CHILLFILTR (46 KP) rated Wilder Woods by Wilder Woods in Music
Sep 2, 2019
Atlantic Records recording artist Wilder Woods is back with a new single and music video to promote his upcoming debut LP. Electric Woman features a retro-soul melody combined with a slinky electronic groove, yielding a raw and understated homage to the female form delivered with a signature throwback-flair.
The music video stars Bear Rinehart’s wife, Mary Reames Rinehart, and gives listeners a peek at what real chemistry looks like between the young and beautiful. The canyons at sunset create a wistful backdrop for this exploration of honeymoon love, while Wilder Woods again joins his love of classic style with modern sounds, extending a perfect moment into the ether of collective experience. We are there also, dancing under the stars with our beloved.

The Greatest Showman
I loved this film, I was nearly put off by some of the reviews I had read but I'm so glad I decided to make my own mind up about it. Did I say I loved it, well I did, it was great, at one point in the film I wanted to get up and clap the only thing that stopped me is my daughter and grand-daughter would have killed me.
I will watch this film again and again and it is now one of my favourite films. A real feel good film with some deep underlying messages too.

CHILLFILTR (46 KP) rated Dancing by Slow Skies in Music
Jul 11, 2019
It works as an invitation, to both understand and let go of the need for understanding. We leave our bodies be the moment, our feelings to be the logic. We move in perfect consciousness. But perhaps we are not all of us looking at the sky.
“You will see people
Who don’t even think of
The way their bodies shape themselves”
— Slow Skies
Karen Sheridan, known in Dublin and increasingly around the world as Slow Skies, invites us all to take a minute and breathe. With her single Dancing, in a voice that for a moment reimagines Nora Jones, Sheridan asks the listener to 'to think about whatever it is that makes them feel good'. We like the lazy guitar strumming, the ice-cream-soft voice, and the variated Hey Mickey drum beat.

Take one commitment-phobe vampire and one part-human part-fae who have been dancing around each other for two years. What you get is a short story filled with passion and history. There is no insta-love with this story, instead, it's been building between them for two years before either of them realises what it is. Of course, it takes the presence of very real danger to both of them to make them realise but this just gives the story some action.
A quick read, full of steam. Definitely recommended.

Andy K (10821 KP) rated Prom Night (1980) in Movies
Sep 19, 2019
Halloween 1.5
Fairly forgettable slasher/horror film with a lot of similarities to the original Halloween which had been released only 2 years earlier also starring Jamie Lee Curtis. Maybe at the time, all the now predictable horror cliches had not been overdone as they have been these days, but it was still mostly a bore.
After several children murder another girl in an abandoned building, they decide to keep their crime as a secret. Years later the children are now in high school when a mysterious stranger now decides to look them up and make them pay for the dastardly deed. They don't notice subtle clues immediately as the stranger starting calling them with his "spooky voice". The night of the prom is different though, as he decides to take his revenge on them one at a time after there is plenty of disco dancing of course.
Were audiences easier to please back in 1980? Clearly this was a cash grab of a film coming right on the heels of a much better ground breaking entry into the horror genre. This killer is pretty boring in comparison to others even of the same time period. No Captain Kirk or hockey masks here. The guy just wears all black with a black ski mask.
The soundtrack of disco tunes and the prom dancing scene with Jamie Lee strutting her stuff with her date was the highlight for me. It was also funny, yet not funny to see Leslie Nielsen in a dramatic role. It's hard to believe his career would change forever the same year when Airplane! was released.
I would pass if I were you.

Smokey (2 more)
real characters
mildly racy (she's a prostitute)
When did this happen moments (1 more)
mildly racy (she's a prostitute)
Contains spoilers, click to show
Racy in that yes the main character is a prostitute there are sex scenes. The book opens with her at work. The scenes are tame, Lindskold gives just enough information for you to fill in the blanks as wanted, so no porn on paper.
The characters have real reactions. Although sometimes you feel like "oh this is now happening or when did this happen?" exspecially when it comes to Clarence and Smokey's relationship.
I think Bonny's nicknamesare cute however some people may not feel the same.
There are gay and lesbian characters (normally I won't say but I have a friend that wanted to.know of more books that had such characters)
Plus my favorite scene is Smokey dancing with Fox.

Awix (3310 KP) rated The White Crow (2018) in Movies
Mar 28, 2019 (Updated Mar 28, 2019)
Left-field remake focuses less on vengeful undead Goths and more on cold war politics and ballet dancing. Talented, driven, arrogant dancer Rudolf Nureyev chafes against the Soviet system seeking to exploit and control him; a visit to Paris offers him the hope of freedom. (You know, the more I think about it, the more I suspect this doesn't actually have anything to do with that Brandon Lee movie...)
Solid, typically measured stuff from Ralph 'Little Sunbeam' Fiennes; strong performances and good photography, together with a thoughtful script, make this engaging even if you're not that into people bounding around doing plies and what-have-you. Sags a bit in the middle, but the scenes depicting Nureyev's defection are gripping. Oleg Ivenko isn't quite the full Rudolf, but he gets near enough (thanks everyone, I'm here all week).
