"You built a time machine ... out of a DeLorean?!?"
The film that launched then-teenager Michael J Fox to superstardom, as the time-travelling Marty McFly who finds himself back in 1955 and inadvertently jeopardising his own existence when he interferes in his teenage parents first meeting.

The film also co-stars Christopher Lloyd as the mad eyed scientist Doc Brown (who invented the time machine, which originally (as a bit of trivia) was going to be immobile until the makers decided that might be too dangerous, with kids climbing in and getting struck in fridges), although it never quite explains how an adult came to be such close friends with a teenager!

❄️ As December draws in and the world turns quiet, Sealed with a Curse invites you into a kingdom shaped by loss, grief, and the dangerous touch of divine magic.

Once, Selene walked the halls of Melthkior as a companion to its Princes. Now, she endures their cruelty as a swan herder—alone but for her beloved swans and the kindness of the kitchen folk. When the gods intervene and a terrible curse strikes the six Princes, Selene faces an impossible choice: help those who hurt her… or leave them to their fate.

A haunting, emotional fairytale retelling woven with Welsh mythology, perfect for reflective winter reading. 🦢✨

Entry number 24 in Simon Scarrow's long running Cato and Macro series, set largely in and around Rome in the time of Nero.

Yes, that Nero.

the one who (famously) "fiddled while Rome burnt".

And, indeed, a fire in Rome plays a pivotal role in this, with Cato put in charge of the much-maligned urban cohorts by a fickle Nero and appointing (the now supposedly retired) Macro as his second-in-command.

If you've read any of the previous books you'll - largely - know what to expect, although -as Cato has now moved up in society - we're moving away from the wars of the earlier novels into more political (but just as, if not more so) dangerous waters.

So this month I’ve read 19 and DNFd 1. I’ve read so many good books this month. Some I never though I’d actually pick up but so glad I did!

DNF 1

So my absolute favourite has to be Reds Robin I’m not usually a mega fan of smutty books but this one drew me in!
The book that surprised me most was The Weight of Him it was such an emotional journey.
My worst was my DNF Dark and Dangerous it just didn’t appeal although I really tried!

So many good books I’ve had a good month!

An interesting look at the life of El Chapo and the Mexican drug cartels including the politics and widespread corruption surrounding the drug trade.

I listened to the audiobook and thought the narrator did a great job to put some 'life' into what could have been a bland story that could easily come across as a text book. The author has clearly done his research and there is a lot of information to digest.

Overall, a very interesting overview of the seedy and dangerous world of the drug trade and my thanks go to Arcturus Digital Audio and NetGalley for enabling me to listen to and share my thoughts of El Chapo.
