Hooked from the start
No one is more familiar with Savannah's dark side than homicide detective and native resident Elise Sandburg. She's been haunted for years by her own mysterious past: she was abandoned as a baby in one of the city's ancient cemeteries, and it's rumored that she is the illegitimate daughter of an infamous Savannah root doctor. The local Gullah culture of voodoo and magic is one that few outsiders can understand, least of all Elise's new ...

Hooked

From the first chapter I was hooked. It's a great mix of mystery and thriller with it touching on the occult slightly. Anne is a new author for me and certainly one I can't wait to read more of.
The relationship dynamics are so well written from the angst of a strained mother daughter to the new troubled work relationships.
Definitely one of recommend.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

In the city of Bristol, young women are dying in mysterious circumstances. The deaths look like suicides – but are they something more sinister?

Honor is terrified that her daughter might be next. But as she looks for clues as to what really happened to the girls, she stumbles upon a link to a dark secret in her own past – one that she’s kept from her daughter.

Now Honor has the chance to avenge her child for the terrible events of years ago.

This was a pretty good read. I had a few moments as this book got home a little to close for me but I just couldn’t stop reading it. My stomach was twisted in parts. I really really felt uncomfortable but isn’t that what a good thriller is supposed to do?

Unexpected angle to a tried and tested sci-fi genre. (0 more)
It had me ugly crying at the end. (0 more)
Don't watch this is you have a daughter!
Really enjoyable film although a little slow at the start. It's definitely not an action packed take on the genre but that adds to its charm. Some cracking performances given and an interesting commentary on the world's political stance which was unexpected.
