The Invitation
By Diane Hoh
⭐️⭐️⭐️

It arrives on crisp, ivory paper with elegant gold script. It is an invitation to a party like no other, an invitation to death. Written by the same author as "Funhouse".

It was ok not the best of the series but still good!

[Beth Revis] does it again with [The Body Electric]. In this futuristic world things are not always what they may seem. Ella is miserable due to the death of her father and the impending death of her mother. She just wants to be happy and make her mother happy. Unfortunately there are dark secrets hidden that will turn her world upside down.

If you have been wise enough to read the [Across the Universe] trilogy (and if you haven't you should, NOW) you will recognize the wonderful writing style and storytelling as well as references to Godspeed. [Revis] imagines a dark yet hopeful future. She does a magnificent job of showing both the good and evil of the human spirit.

[The Prediction] by [Darren Sugrue] was an excellent thriller. The question is, if you could know the date of death would you want to? Daniel did his PhD thesis on a mathematical formula that could predict when someone would die. His thesis was rejected and he gave up his old life to be a crane operator. Twelve years later his old professor approaches him after the death of his son and wants Daniel to take his thesis up again. This decision will change everyone involved.

The characters were well developed and drove the plot. I really liked how you got to see different perspectives throughout the book.I highly recommend this book. I could not put it down once I started reading.

Death on Tour (Jocelyn Shore, #1)

No one is too upset with the tour group busy body is found dead on the groups first day in Egypt. But Jocelyn soon begins to suspect that the death wasn't an accident. As the trip continues, strange things seem to happen wherever they go. What's going on? I enjoyed the tour parts of the book, although they did seem to slow the book down. That's not necessarily a bad thing because it is painfully obvious what is happening very early on. Add to that characters that aren't always likeable, and you've got something that could have been fun but winds up only average.

Always a pleasure, the In Death series is hands down my favorite series of books in any genre. It's like going back to old friends with each new installment. By the 47th book, you know the quirks and eccentricities of each character, from over-the-top Mavis to Galahad the cat, and you can't wait to "see" them again.

Leverage in Death, while a great addition to the series, featured a central plot which felt a bit clunky to me. It was appropriately horrifying, but a bit convoluted - not nearly as streamlined as past installments in the series. The characters, as I said, are always interesting, and it's their interactions with each other that make this story work.

All of that said, I'll be eagerly awaiting #48!

Death Note Netflix Live Action
Death Note is originally an anime created by Tsugumi Ohba from 2003 to 2006.
If I haven’t watched the anime (which I did, years ago Netflix published the live action) I would have given this film a 6.
I love Netflix and I’m a big fan of a lot of Netflix originals but this one could be way better.
Since I watched the anime, it was painfully horrendous to watch the film.
Netflix basically followed the introduction of the anime and made a whole new thing out of it giving it the same name.

Wished it was made for more mature audiences
I actually really loved this movie, but I'm glad i watched it before taking my kids to see it, way too much death for a PG.
I loved all the little creatures and the dark fae, so beautiful and well done.
Exciting watch so now want to rewatch the first :)
I think the film would have had a harder impact had it been made for 12/15 audiences. There was a lot of war and death and no blood, which seemed really off-putting and took away from the intensity. But saying that, the themes running through it were way too mature and scary for it to be a PG, didn't make a great deal of sense to me.
