Sarah (7800 KP) rated The Girl With All the Gifts (2017) in Movies

Underwhelming
The problem with this is that zombie films have been done to death. Yes it gives another take on the zombie genre and has some unique features, but ultimately it still feels lacking in originality. Paddy Considine and Glenn Close are fantastic actors but they feel a little underused in this. And the ending is just silly. Sadly this is just an average watchable zombie film that is completely forgettable.

Great!
This was a really really good movie. I love Ryan Reynolds and he doesn't disappoint in this one, either. This film was full of intense action, wonderful acting and remarkable storytelling. A very thought provoking, intriguing tale about life and death, second chances and redemption. It had a couple of good twists and turns(and one or two predictable parts). This one is really REALLY worth a watch!

Belinda Cooley is in Vegas with her twin brother. Her brother is going to play in a poker tournament, but before it begins, he vanishes. Belinda must take his place to find him. Fun characters but it stretched credibility too much for me to give it a higher rating.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2379 KP) rated The Puzzle Lady vs. The Sudoku Lady (Puzzle Lady #11) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Cora Felton meets her Japanese counterpart as a mysterious death happens in town. Now it's a race for honor to solve the crime. There's plenty of humor in this book, and the story is pretty good. But the characters are getting stale, especially Dennis. Enjoyable, but most for the fans.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2379 KP) rated Christietown (A Cece Caruso Mystery, #4) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Cece's latest biography subject is Agatha Christie. But instead of beefing up the section on Agatha's real life disappearance, she's investigating the mysterious death of someone at the Agatha themed community Christietown. Slow at times as the book follows other things in Cece's life, but a fun addition to the series.

Alicia S (193 KP) rated Monsters in the Dark (Monsters in the Dark, #1-3) in Books
Sep 28, 2018
Incredible.. I've only read one book before I would have considered "dark erotica" but after just finishing Pepper Winters Monsters in the Dark trilogy, my god I want more!? The story of Tess and Q completely messed with my head... the abuse, fear, power... eventually transforming into such love, a bond so tight, not even death could separate them. Beautifully written, I loved the connection & the feeling of true belonging.

Eilidh G Clark (177 KP) rated Angela's Ashes (Frank McCourt, #1) in Books

Funny and sad
Super. This novel is written with a first person childhood narration. Whilst this is problematic with regards to the authenticity of McCourts memory, you can not criticise him for his portrayal of childhood innocence. The novel is fantastic, great visual images, told from a convincing narrator, covering topics such as religion, poverty, alcoholism, hunger, death and growing up. I just loved it.
