Merissa (11953 KP) rated Famine (The Four Horsemen #3) in Books
Apr 25, 2023
The third book in the series features Famine, otherwise known as Fami. Apart from Death, he is probably the busiest horseman but he seems to concentrate more on Africa, although he does go to different places too. Ekundayo has stolen a diamond from the mines in Botswana, but injures himself in the process, resulting in a visit by Death, who then instructs Famine on where to go. Famine rescues him and takes him back to his treehouse near Victoria Falls, where Death plays Devil's Advocate in telling Famine to leave Ekundayo alone and not tell him anything. The twist in this book isn't that Famine needs to forgive himself. He feels that he did nothing wrong as he was sacrificed by the village shaman to bring rain. Instead, he has to forgive the shaman instead.
This book is slightly different from the other two, in how Famine may return to being mortal, in the fact that he and Ekundayo argue and split up, going their own ways.
Still well-written and with few grammatical errors that I found, it has a smooth pace and leads nicely onto Death's book. I am also hoping that we will find out more about Lam and why he not only smells of Christmas but also of sulphur! Definitely recommended.

Thoughtful, intelligent movie for older teens and adults. (2 more)
Tom Hank's, as usual, is superb.
Well crafted and moving story.
based on King's 1996 serialized novel set in a prison. In 1935, inmates at the Cold Mountain Correctional Facility call Death Row "The Green Mile" because of the dark green linoleum that tiles the floor.

Actually quite sad reading it post-death
This is almost a bittersweet memoir about the great Carrie Fisher who battled mental health issues, substance abuse, and being brought up in a slightly dysfunctional family. It is witty, snarky and sarcastic despite all the upheavals. It begins with her experience with electroshock therapy and her subsequent loss of memories. The book is also short and filled with interesting images from her life, so it's a treat to read.

Conclusion to Wolverine Trilogy is Finally a good Ending to a Trilogy
Contains spoilers, click to show
What an incredible story! loved this conclusion to the Wolverine Trilogy. This movie lets you know very early on that it is not the Wolverine of previous movies. This is an old, broken dying Wolverine. I was very happy with the way that they treated Logan's death at the end of the film. I thought it was very tastefully done and was very impactful.

Class comedy drama
What could be a boring story regarding a womans life after her husbands death gets spun on its head. Christina Applegate and the rest of the cast put their acting capabilities to the full with this biting story about grieving, loss and redemption.
The twists come thick and fast without being contrived. Give it ago it feels fresh for such a well treaded subject.

Faux finisher Annie Kincaid is restoring some old paintings in a chapel in Oakland when she runs into grave robbers in the cemetery outside. Meanwhile, she also hearing rumors that a reproduction inside might be the real thing. As always this was a fun romp with likeable characters. I could turn the pages fast enough.
