After going through a transition, Talia finds herself working at her friend Bea’s fish and chips restaurant again. When a neighboring shop owner is murder and the police start to focus on Bea, Talia decides to start looking for the real killer.

This is the first in a series, and a lot of people seemed to love it, but it felt like it needed another draft to polish things up. The characters weren’t quite as well developed as they could have been, and the plot has some serious pacing issues. It wasn’t a bad debut, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would.

NOTE: I was sent a copy of this book by the publisher in hopes that I would review it.

This is a DNF (did not finish) for me, I always try my very hardest to complete a book when I'm given an opportunity to review it. The author Irene Taylor has no doubt worked extremely hard her entire life gaining a masters degree and also on this, her debut book but I felt as if I was being spoken down to. What's wrong with ordinary plain, down to earth English? not everyone has a masters degree in modern language. This said, I did enjoy the descriptions of the places and the paintings etc, the author really made these come to life and I wished she'd done the same for the characters. I'm half way thought this book and I still barely know them, I have no emotional attachment to any of them. Sadly I'm kind of bored with it and feel I'm just going through the motions.

One to watch for.
A debut thriller that really kept me on the edge of my seat. Rosalind Ryan, a local Drama and English teacher, is found dead in the lake at a local nature reserve. Gemma Woodstock, a local Detective Sergeant, is put on the case. Except Gemma has a history with Rosalind, and she has a lot of other personal baggage.
I enjoyed this. They're all very human characters with lots of faults, sometimes unpleasant ones: but I liked that. I liked that the murderer wasn't at all obvious (to me, anyway!) and had me guessing right up to the end, and the whole reason for the murder was a shock, and at the same time, understandable.
I will keep an eye out for future novels by this author, particularly in this series. I really do think that she'll be one to watch out for in the future.

Medicated Marley is an up-and-coming rapper and Instagram personality. Not too long ago, she released her debut single, entitled, “Cash App”, produced by RV3RS.

“Drop it to the floor bring it back now. I don’t wanna hear about your rap style, I just want the money bring the cash out. I just want the money here’s my Cash App, b*tch.” – lyrics

‘Cash App’ tells an interesting tale of a super-confident young woman who is all about her money.

Apparently, she resides on the westside like a Laker and has an up-to-par style with lots of flavors. Also, she smokes a lot of hydro weed and claims that she can out smoke any dude.

‘Cash App’ contains a relatable storyline, pleasing rap vocals, and vibey instrumentation flavored with hip-hop and trap elements.

A missing fortune? A swoony hero? A dastardly bad guy? You can probably see why I jumped into this book without hesitation. This second book from Joanna Davidson Politano reaches new heights and, dare I say it, even better than her debut novel (which was exceptional).

Set on a beautiful estate with a winery, I learned a lot. Donegan's wisdom and passion are beyond compare. Tressa's determination and longing for love make them the perfect pair! Watching them fight through their internal struggles and overcome so many threats, is inspiring.

Set in England 1866, you will be sucked into the story from the first page. And make sure you pick up a copy of Lady Jayne Disappears while you're at it.

I received a complimentary copy of A Rumored Fortune from the publishers. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.
