Detective Rebus is totally clueless
From the outset it was completely obvious who was responsible for the murders and abductions and yet it took the entire novel for the detective to figure it out. I became rather frustrated with the character's various flaws which stopped him from solving the murder. I was told Ian Rankin has a good reputation for writing thrillers so slightly disappointed overall.

Helen Grace - badass detective
Loved it- since reading this book I bought all of M J Alridge's stories and cannot wait for more..

Brilliant season
I couldn't turn away on each episode. Trying myself at being a detective and trying to figure out who did it.

Loving a lady assasin
I was extremely skeptical when I started watching this show. I did not have a ton of background information on what it was about. I was hooked almost immediately. Both the detective and the assasin are smart asses which also makes the drama very funny. Definately worth a watch.

Vacations don't always go to plan
Detective James Carter (Tucker) and Inspector Lee (Chan) are vacationing in Hong Kong.
when a bomb explosion at the US Consulate kills two undercover agents Lee is assigned to the case unbeknownst to detective Carter, causing a rift between the two.
The return of the action comedy duo bring more laughs and action to the table than previously as Rush Hour 2 became a rarity... A solid sequel.

Dean (6921 KP) rated Twilight (1998) in Movies

A decent slow paced thriller, more of a detective story really. It has a great cast Gene Hackman, Susan Sarandon, Paul Newman and a very early, memorable role for Reese Witherspoon. If you like detective stories and a plot with a slight twist you might like this, but it could do with a bit more action at least. It seems to have slipped by most people but it's worth a watch if it's on.

Dean (6921 KP) rated The Grudge (2020) in Movies
Jan 31, 2021
Decent cast (1 more)
Good cinematography
Not scary (2 more)
Predictable jump scares
Poor direction
Another Grudge
We really don't need yet another film in the Grudge series. Another re-boot that offers nothing new. The usual predictable jump scares mixed with an odd feel. At times it felt more like a detective drama than a Horror film, but it just doesn't fit. It does look nice at times, the detective film vibe sections at least, but it's a waste of a good cast.
Heather Cranmer (2721 KP) rated Love You More (Tessa Leoni, #1; Detective D.D. Warren, #5) in Books

I haven't read many detective books as their usually not my type of book. However, having read the summary of this book, I thought I'd give it a go.
I'm so glad I read it. It is amazing!! Definitely my favourite detective book. There are plenty of twists and turns in this book right up until the very end, literally!! I kept thinking I had figured out the plot, then something else would happen to totally throw me off.
I never would've predicted the ending which says a lot as I'm usually able to figure out the plot at least by the middle of the book.
Definitely give this book a read even if it isn't your usual genre. This book has made me want to read more detective novels!

Ronnie (304 KP) rated The Case Of The Drowned Pearl in Books

On World Book Day Robin Stevens brings us a short Detective Society story at the seaside. When a famous swimmer shows up dead on the beach smelling of soap, the Detective Society must team up with the Junior Pinkertons to solve the murder and get back to their summer holiday.
I really enjoyed just setting aside a short amount of time to just sit down and read ‘The Case Of The Drowned Pearl’ in one go. It was a nice, short, easy read and it was great getting to see a murder investigated from a new angle, with the chapters alternating between Daisy and Hazel’s perspectives.
I can’t wait to read the next Murder Most Unladylike book, although it will be sad bidding a fond farewell to the Detective Society.
