The Girl in the Ice ( Detective Erica Foster # 1)
By Robert Bryndza
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Her eyes are wide open. Her lips parted as if to speak. Her dead body frozen in the ice…She is not the only one.

When a young boy discovers the body of a woman beneath a thick sheet of ice in a South London park, Detective Erika Foster is called in to lead the murder investigation.

The victim, a beautiful young socialite, appeared to have the perfect life. Yet when Erika begins to dig deeper, she starts to connect the dots between the murder and the killings of three prostitutes, all found strangled, hands bound and dumped in water around London.

What dark secrets is the girl in the ice hiding?

As Erika inches closer to uncovering the truth, the killer is closing in on Erika.

The last investigation Erika led went badly wrong… resulting in the death of her husband. With her career hanging by a thread, Erika must now battle her own personal demons as well as a killer more deadly than any she’s faced before. But will she get to him before he strikes again?

I really enjoyed this! I was still guessing right up till the end it was fast paced and a really good read! I think Erica Foster is a character that has to grow on you but she did about half way through! Looking forward to reading more from this author.

The story is great. (2 more)
Telltale games are unlike any others.
Bigby kicks all type of ass.
If you haven't played one of telltale's games then this the perfect first step.
Based on the comic book series 'fable', you take the place of protagonist 'Bigby' a detective who is tasked with finding the murderer of a prostitute known as 'Faith'.

There are different options the player can make that affect the out come of the story; if you decide to tell toad to go fuck himself, then he may be less inclined to help you further down the line...
Don't worry, though. There's always a little note in the corner when you punch someone in the face that 'they'll remember that'.

A classic noir from Graham Greene but not his best
While I wouldn't say this was the best of Graham Greene, who is renowned for his noir style crime tales, it was an enjoyable read.

There are plenty of twists and turns in this spy novel about a simple vacuum merchant turned spy for the British government in Cuba. His friend, a German doctor is suspected of being more than he is. There are plenty of assassination plots in this novel on top of escaping dangerous situations involving corrupt cops.

My only gripe is the fact how quickly the salesman was able to grasp being a detective without any training, so it seems a little implausible. Fun, but no Brighton Rock.

I never seem to do things in the right order. This is my third Women's Murderer Club book. I have already read 5 and 6. I gave the book three stars because I didn't like the way it ended.
Four women from four different sides of the law decide to put their collective brains together to solve murder cases. Lindsay the homicide detective, Claire the medical examiner, Jill the assistant district attorney, and Cindy the crime reporter.
When three couples turn up dead after their wedding nights, these ladies work together to find the killer. When they find out that the suspect is someone famous, will Lindsay be able to find enough evidence for an arrest, or will the guilty get away?

Writer Cassie and police detective James have been dating for two months, and Cassie has decided it is time to meet James' father, a man he hasn't talked to much since he was kicked off the force for being a corrupt cop years ago. But when a body is found and James' father had ties to the victim, Cassie steps in to find out what is really happening. I love these characters, and they are great to spent time around. The plot is a bit slow at first, but it picks up as it goes a long. Lots of fun overall.

Slow burner, slightly disappointing
As a fan of Jane Harper's debut novel @The Dry, this definitely felt like a sub-par sequel. Detective Aaron Falks returns with another case in the Australian wilderness, this time following the disappearance of a woman who went on a work retreat in the outback but never came back.

Four of the women who went with her all have motives to want to see her gone, so Falks attempts to understand what secrets she may have had about them.

The story, as described, felt underwhelming even though I appreciate the straightforward simplicity of Harper's writing. There is no massive conspiracy similar to the first but it may have lacked too much in this instance.

Celebrity gossip fans, reality TV fans, and of course mystery fans are going to love Maizie Albright. She is determined, quirky, and lots of fun. A former child actor who played a detective on TV, Maisie returns home to Black Pine, Georgia seeking an apprenticeship with a real private investigator. Will Maisie be able to convince her unwilling mentor that she’s more than a hollywood has-been? Full of humor and romance, this is a great start to a new series.
