ashezbookz (32 KP) rated They Both Die At The End in Books
Jul 5, 2018
I loved how each of the stories intertwined together! This was my first Silvera book and I was not disappointed, now I'm reading all of them, of course.
I kept waiting for them to die, how morbid, but that's the point of the book right? I think it would both be a pleasure and a horror to know what day you're going to die but not exactly how or when in the day, like imagine that torture!
I thought the difference in Mateo and Rufus was awesomely written too, each personality was unique and a pleasure to read, and mad cool ;)
I did not cry - perhaps I have no soul..............maybe the next book. Thanks for an amazing read though!!!!!!!

It's was ok.......
Great story line a couple wanting a baby and that's exactly what they got only difference is it came in a spaceship, the child grows and they make many memories as a family until the boy (Brandon) starts hearing a voice that us veiwers soon find out he's been sent to take the world.
The film had plenty of creepy feel to it, with Brandon playing the good role of the young crazy guy. And His mum played by Elizabeth Banks couldn't have been a better character, she seems to do well in a cheesy horror (slither).
On the whole it was a good watch, I didn't know what to expect I wasn't 100% amazed but a good 7/10!

Components (2 more)
Very colorful
Good instructions
Co-operative puzzle fun
I am not a fan of real-time games. My daughter however loves this logic puzzle real-time game. So she asks to play it quite a bit. It is a co-operative game where you fulfill cupcake orders together. Well you match the cupcake liners anyway. It is a very cute game, the colors are distinct enough we haven't gotten them mixed up. This may not be a color-blind friendly game, but the cupcake liners are different sizes as well, so that may be enough to make a difference. Overall, there is not much to dislike, but everyone has differing tastes. For our family this one will stick around.

Great cast (2 more)
Big battles
James Earl Jones
May the force be with you
So just finished this shortly after seeing the two series of The Mandalorian. Thankfully this is more in keeping with the feel of the 2nd series of The Mandalorian.
It's on a big scale, big battles and sets and most importantly key characters are back. The overall cast is very good but it's a big difference to have the actors from the films showing again. Very glad James Earl Jones is the voice of Vader again.
Set 10 years after The Revenge of the Sith it sits nicely between that and A New Hope. If you are a Star Wars fan I can't see how you cannot like this.

Merissa (11805 KP) rated Desperate Measures (Aspen Falls #5) in Books

Desperate Measures (Aspen Falls #5) by Melissa Pearl & Anna Cruise
Desperate Measures is the fifth book in the Aspen Falls series, and we finally get Camilla's story. She has made regular appearances throughout this series, but hasn't as yet had her say. She does in this one, and it was definitely worth waiting for!
Cam grew up on the wrong side of the tracks (so to speak) and was determined to change her life, and to make a difference. She does this, but not without heartbreak. She leaves behind the love of her young life, knowing he is in with the gangs that are rampant. She walks away, and does make a difference. Alex has always remained in her thoughts though, even when she tries to forget him. So when he turns up, bloody and battered, will she help him, or arrest him?
This was a great story, with plenty of depth to both the situations and the characters. There were no editing or grammatical errors to this story that I noticed. I enjoyed the banter between Cam and Alex, as well as the situations they found themselves in. Even though she is a police officer, Cam did across with a healthy dose of naivety at times.
With enough action to keep you turning the pages, this was thoroughly engrossing from start to finish. Absolutely recommended by me.
This is a series that I am thoroughly enjoying. Can't wait for the next one.
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and my comments here are my honest opinion. *

Bong Mines Entertainment (15 KP) rated Holiday - Single by Dana Williams in Music
Jul 10, 2019
Dana Williams is a singer-songwriter based in Los Angeles, California. Not too long ago, she released a lovely music video for her “Holiday” single.
“My, how time, how it flies away. ‘Cause I used to dream of you, but now I wish you’d go away. It’s only a holiday when you’re away. It’s only a holiday when you’re not here. ‘Cause that’s when I have my space when you’re away. It’s only a holiday when you’re gone. And now the only difference is that I’ve come too far to care. But now the only difference is that you’re not there.” – lyrics
‘Holiday’ tells a bittersweet tale of a young woman who needs a break from her significant other and their problematic relationship.
Oftentimes, she thinks about leaving when he’s away but is too afraid to do so because she fears the loneliness of being single.
Even though they fuss and fight, she admits that she finds comfort in his companionship and that’s why she keeps him around.
‘Holiday’ contains a relatable storyline and ear-welcoming vocals. Also, the likable tune possesses hard-hitting instrumentation embedded with thudding drums and dreamy strings.
“‘Holiday’ is an expression of self-love and realizing that it is better to be alone than in the company of a turbulent relationship.” – Dana Williams
Dana Williams was raised on legendary singers such as Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday.
Not too long ago, her “Honey” single landed on Spotify’s Fresh Finds playlist. So far, the likable tune has amassed over 3M streams online.
Also, Alex Da Kid, a multi-Grammy Award-winner producer (Skylar Grey, Rihanna), will be producing Williams’ upcoming project featuring her “Holiday” single.

Chris Hooker (419 KP) rated One is Come (Five in Circle, #1) in Books
Jan 12, 2018
I am looking forward to the next one in the series. [One is Come] by [C.H. MacLean] is a wonderful mix of magic, adventure and lore. The characters suffer from the typical teenage angst that is common everywhere and similar growing pains. The difference is the issue of puberty brings with it a secret that normal kids don't deal with.
The only people around the kids that can understand are their parents who have taken an oath not to speak of the magic. The conflicting powers fighting for control over the kids and their gift leads to more intrigue. I am still not sure who is good and who is bad, or even if there is a good or bad. Any book that has magic and dragons is always a good bet.

Paige (428 KP) rated The Lord of the Rings in Books

A good core story (2 more)
Some of the characters
World-building
The songs (2 more)
The overfocus and over wordiness of the battle scenes
Writing style left me cold
A classic, but not my favorite fantasy by a long shot.
I have reread these and enjoyed them more the second time around, mostly because I felt justified in skipping bits about battle details and the songs (and most of anything to do with the humans, really)
I know that Tolkien was a linguist, and even made up a usable language for the elves, so it rather baffles me that the writing seems so flat. I can only conjecture that it is matter of perfecting language rather than using it as a tool for evoking something in the reader. I am guessing it is just a difference of preferences.

Jcadden76 (64 KP) rated the PlayStation 4 version of Far Cry 5 in Video Games
Jun 10, 2018
Storyline (5 more)
Atmosphere
NPCs
Villains
Perk System
Guns for Hire System
Repetitive encounters (1 more)
Lack of diverse weapons
Compelling story beautiful, open-world
Much like Far Cry 4 (which I loved) this is an open-world, vaguely linear action adventure game. Lots of terrain to explore, lots of odd encounters with strange NPCs.
The difference, and the real hook for me, is the storyline. Trying to avoid spoilers, go watch the trailer and get sucked in. Based in the US you are a US Marshal fighting a religious cult. Trying to reclaim Hope County from this bizarre and extreme set of believers.
The multiplayer is good and well thought out and different but I will admit that I have spent very little time in the Multiplayer world of Far Cry 5.
