This is a collection of short stories that follow various people who are not where they started out. They are immigrants, eccentrics and those who really don't want to be where they are. Themes include loss, isolation/ loneliness and difference.
Stories that particularly stood out for me, were the story about a girl who loses her leg, the elderly woman trying to escaper her old people's home if only she could remember what she's supposed to be doing, and the woman who goes to see a 'Sheikh' for family relationship advice.
All of the stories made me stop and think - mainly about what I would have done in their circumstances. Very thought provoking.
This was another book read on 'The Pigeonhole' social reading platform.

A quiet place part 2
Contains spoilers, click to show
So this film is exactly like A quiet place. So much so its bordering on plagiarism! It follows a family and the teenage daughter is deaf. Cue weird monsters that kill people and the only way to stay safe is to be quiet - sound familiar? The only difference is the inclusion of a weird religious cult. In general its really well put together and the acting is top notch especially Stanley Tucci & the very good Kiernan Shipka. The biggest problem with this is that it builds up ok towards a climax that is over before it starts. Seriously the most rushed ending ever. So an ok film with a crappy ending.

The story line wasn't bad and kept me interested enough to finish, but the dialog was kind of cheesy, and several things just did not add up. I really think a good editor would have made all the difference.
At one point, we find out someone read that the girlfriend had messed up Olivia's car, but if it was hushed up and there were no charges pressed, that's not likely. Then there was the line of dialog that Collin repeated while sleeping, that would not have been in the taped confession that he heard as a child, so there was no way he would have known it was something that Wade had said. Several little things like this bothered me throughout the book.

I loved how each of the stories intertwined together! This was my first Silvera book and I was not disappointed, now I'm reading all of them, of course.
I kept waiting for them to die, how morbid, but that's the point of the book right? I think it would both be a pleasure and a horror to know what day you're going to die but not exactly how or when in the day, like imagine that torture!
I thought the difference in Mateo and Rufus was awesomely written too, each personality was unique and a pleasure to read, and mad cool ;)
I did not cry - perhaps I have no soul..............maybe the next book. Thanks for an amazing read though!!!!!!!

It's was ok.......
Great story line a couple wanting a baby and that's exactly what they got only difference is it came in a spaceship, the child grows and they make many memories as a family until the boy (Brandon) starts hearing a voice that us veiwers soon find out he's been sent to take the world.
The film had plenty of creepy feel to it, with Brandon playing the good role of the young crazy guy. And His mum played by Elizabeth Banks couldn't have been a better character, she seems to do well in a cheesy horror (slither).
On the whole it was a good watch, I didn't know what to expect I wasn't 100% amazed but a good 7/10!
