@Sarah I thought the movie was alright, though, I'm trash for anything with Brendan Fraser. I haven't rewatched it recently, so my opinion may have changed.

I liked the idea of the story and the last quarter was very good. However, even though I thought this would be a book that would be magical, it wasn't really. I also thought that the message of 'books are magical' was put across in a very forced way. I really wanted to love this book, but was just an ok read for me.

Hello everyone! I got busy yesterday, and forgot to post anything for discussion. Sorry!
So to start us off did anyone watch the movie? Do you think the movie followed the book well, or did it do its own thing? Also which did you like better?

I have to admit I’ve never seen the film so interested to hear everyone’s views. Definitely need to watch the film now though!

Hello everyone! It is time for discussion. To start us off I would love to know what you thought of Emma's dad's reaction when he showed up at the lake. I think he was understandably worried, but it was wrong for him to compare Emma to her mother.

It seemed harsh when she's been there for 3 weeks and not been in any trouble in fact been very helpful for him to turn up and act very authoritarian. Found him very annoying to be happy to trust her when it suites him and he's away but to overcompensate when back. Rather than acknowledge her adult attitude to being left there and give her some leeway he suddenly worries she'll end up like her mum, very frustrating.

Brilliant read
Honest and open discussion about the highs and lows of being a neurosurgeon. Fantastically written. Keeps you interested and wanting to read more. Read it in just a few sittings, which is unheard of for me with a young baby.
Really enjoyed reading this book and would definitely recommend.

Just realised that I have hit over 1000 followers on this thing. Thank you very much for anybody that has ever bothered to read something I have written.
Smashbomb has provided a brilliant platform for discussion for many movie/tv/gaming fans and I look forward to seeing where it can go in the future.

What is your book club like? Where and how often do you meet and how to you agree on books to read? Most importantly, what has your book club been reading and did it make for good discussion? Sometimes it's hard to pick books, so I thought it would be a great idea to share!

Good, but complicated
The cast is great and work well together, but the DM is a little railroad-y. Three plot is complicated, and it gets even more so when the party is split. It's also really produced, with lots of discussion and play cut. It's not my favorite D&D podcast, but it's still good.

""One of my favorite science-fiction movies is Gravity starring Sandra Bullock. As a rocket scientist, I was blown away by the stunning visual effects and three-dimensional-like movement. Plus, I am thankful that producers and writers cast a woman as an astronaut to bring science concerns to the forefront of American and international discussion.""
