Has anyone ever run a movie club? like a book club for movie fans? I'm starting one this week for my Apartment Building. We are going to see Mary Poppins. It got me thinking if maybe we start one on here.

We could do one every week, different hosts. Pick the movie on Monday, everyone see it by Sunday, then post an online discussion thread on Monday.

I'm really just spit balling, I'm open to any ideas you all have.

I also know that AMC does the $5 movie Tuesdays so we are taking advantage of that to do our movie club on Tuesdays.

You'd have to pick movies that were available on both I suppose.

Or we could do multiples.... like a Netflix Movie Club, a Hulu Movie Club, and maybe an Amazon Prime Movie Club.

Love this app
I love how this app as kept me organised in what I watch and finding out new tv shows and saving them for future watching. I love that you can have a discussion about the episodes and how you can rate the episode and the actors/actresses in the shows. I have this and Letterboxd as I don't want to write it all down and forget about it as I usually on my phone so I can keep clicking on it and keep my watching up to date.

Jumper tells the story of a red ball that is desperate to escape from the toy store and explore the world. Thanks to some help from Mr Wind he is able to have some adventures.

Written for parents to read to their young children, Jumper will not only engage 4 year olds with the tale of the adventurous ball but also has some depth and scope for discussion between parent and child over some of the issues, such as the desire to explore versus obeying rules.

A good book that will be a favourite of parents and children to be read and re-read

Very interesting take on future
Being aware that this movie was made in 1997, I can now see how ahead of its time it was, and still is. The perfectly imperfect world, where genetics can assure your children are perfect doesn't necessarily mean that they will be up to the task. When a child that was predicted to die by the age of 30 manages to achieve what a "perfect product" is not able to, it leads us to assume that maybe, just maybe, everything is possible.

I loved the fact that this movie sparked a very long and thorough discussion between me and my boyfriend.

"Camille Paglia is one of the most controversial feminists of all time, and also one of the most compelling. This mammoth book, put very shortly, examines the representation of sexuality in Western art. But it also goes into fierce discussion about religion, literature, art history, psychology, the brutal forces of sex and nature, and the amorality and pornography present in great art. As someone who personally writes a lot about sex work, one of my favorite lines in the book is, “The prostitute is not, as feminists claim, the victim of men, but rather their conqueror, an outlaw, who controls the sexual channels between nature and culture.”"

A journey through time and space that could potentially blow your mind. Explores life as we know it and the potential for life elsewhere.

I dont think I'm clever enough to enjoy this book...it felt like it should be amazing but I struggled to finish it.

My mind just couldn't comprehend the huge ideas being explored. I loved the first half but as we journeyed further into the universe away from things my mind could relate to I found my attention wandered.

We all, at one point or another, have heard the story of A Christmas Carol, whether we read the book in school, watched a movie with the family, or saw the Muppets version on youtube (which, by the way, is my favorite. I heartily recommend it.). But there is so much more to the story that we don’t grasp because of how our culture has changed. This is the way it is with every classic book. But A Christmas Carol is a story that needs to be understood in it’s full impact because of the story it tells and the lessons it teaches. Stephen Skelton has made it possible.

The Special Edition of A Christmas Carol is a small book, perfect to fit in a small handbag (or a stocking!) with a beautiful cover. The book itself is printed with Dickens’ story in the main section of the pages, and the notes, subtext, and annotations printed in the outer margins. After every “Chapter” (called a Stave in the text) there is a discussion section, perfect for any age group, either young children or mature Christians. The discussion features Bible verses and questions, and relates events, topics, and themes from A Christmas Carol to our everyday Christian walk with God. Extra verses and topics follow the end of every discussion section for those older individuals who wish to go further into studying the themes targeted in the book: Selfishness, Regret, Repentance, Salvation, and Rebirth. At the end of the book is a list of resources for further study.
The story of A Christmas Carol remains, to this day, a classic in literature because it is a wonderful story of sin and greed turned around to Christianity and charity through allegory and parable. It has proved itself a wonderful story to every reader, and will continue to do so forever. Hopefully, this will be the edition that becomes the standard.

Recommendation: All ages. Wonderful for family discussions or group Bible studies. Perfect Christmas gift or stocking stuffer!

Interesting and useful
@Duolingo is one of the most popular language learning apps on the market, so it was only a matter of time it explored other avenues. With its new Spanish podcast range, it has upped its game, as it feels much more useful and meaningful than learning sentences such as "I am a pretty duck".

The main topic of discussion is life experiences, from meeting heroes to rites of passage - it seems far more relevant than the content of the app. And the podcast is bilingual. However, it is for intermediate level which is perhaps why the content is a bit more interesting and varied. So far, so good.

A compelling new story that takes the nuance of Cruel prince and the lore of Goblin King. Fans of strong characters and women who can take on the world will love this read.
Soren and Janneka make the perfect pair to take on the world. Their companionship and fight through the book is commendable. This permafrost world is so well developed that it takes a bit of time to understand the plot. The characters had their own fears and you developed warmth for the odd man out.

*Warning of slight trigger warning for rape is advised. There is no full discussion but alluded to and the scars it leaves behind are in the plot multiple times.

The Terminator (1984)

Amazing classic, amazing action and definitely one of the best movies Arnold Schwarzenegger has made (even though the one with the Kindergarden is my favorite one, and also the one with the twins, with Danny DeVito).

The storyline is amazing, even though it made me think a bit deeper and visit some reddit pages for fan-based theories.

After a discussion with my partner though, we concluded that men mostly enjoy this movie because of (obviously) the action, but for me as a woman, the underrated romance was something that left a big mark and something I really enjoyed.

Forget Romeo and Juliet - this is the romance tragedy you want in your life!
