Ross (3284 KP) rated Making A Murderer - Season 1 in TV
Jan 18, 2018
Not normally a true-crime or documentary fan, I wanted to see what the fuss was all about (but safely after all the buzz has died down). I absolutely loved the documentary. To see how the American justice system, trial by camera, trust in authority figures, all fits together and just how open to abuse it is is incredible.
I mean, obviously the documentary is edited in such a way as to make you believe his innocence, but even just weighing up all the oddities with the evidence and all the different pathways that lead to the same two questionable police officers would lead any sane person to believe he was framed.
The fact that the series covers the case over the span of 10 episodes, without losing traction at any point is incredible.
I have become somewhat obsessed with the case and am currently reading through 220 pages of Avery's latest appeal, and spent far too long watching videos showing the crime scene photos were photo-shopped.

The 80's Were The Best
In Search of Darkness- is a excellent horror documentary that goes through the 80's and takes about horror movies that were released each year and how their impacted today's horror. In this 4hr and 30min documentary it takes its time which each year and the movies that their talked about. I got to mention the interviews. Horror Icons like: Tom Atkins, John Carpenter, Doug Bradley, Jeffrey Combs, Joe Dante, Kane Hodder, Tom Holland, Heather Langenkamp, Don Mancini, Bill Moseley and more. I love the interviews and the movies that their talk about, their have the love for them, even though some were bad their still liked them. Thanks to these horror movies we have these modern horror movies. The 80's inspered these modern horror films. And you can tell by just watching a mordern horror film. The 80's were the best times for horror films. Their was so much that came out in 80's. I highly recordmend watching this documentary.

Sarah (7800 KP) rated McMillions in TV

A hugely detailed & interesting documentary
McMillions appears to be the biggest documentary to be constantly touted on the new Sky Documentaries channels, and for me their constant advertisement really worked. I've become rather fond of crime documentaries of late, they're much more interesting to watch than the never ending carousel of trash fictional shows. And McMillions is a shining example.
First of all, I knew nothing about this story. Of course I know about the McDonalds monopoly game, I've half heartedly collected pieces over the years, but I never thought there would be such an in depth criminal scam involved. So this documentary series was fascinating to watch and see how they managed to pull this off, it really is criminal genius. You can also tell that this is series is truly professional and well funded, it's not just a half baked hour on one of the lesser channels. This spares no expense in covering every aspect of this crime, including featuring first hand accounts and interviews with virtually everyone involved which is no mean feat. My personal favourite was FBI agent Doug Matthews who was downright hilarious at times. It did make me wonder how much trouble he got into afterwards for some of his rather offhand comments!
Overall this is a well rounded and intriguing documentary series, whose only downside is that even with all of the detail involved, it seems a little overly long at 6 hours.

Really good documentary from HBO on Andre the Giant. Doctors may say his heart failed because it couldn't keep up with his ever growing body size, but I feel like it was because it couldn't handle the huge amount of love he had in his heart, for wrestling and for life.
