So, the hype on this movie was insane. I've been wanting to see it since it hit TIFF and the reviews began coming in. I've watched numerous things about Tonya Harding (the 30 for 30 doc--amazing), and I remember watching the news and that awful, shrill 'Whhyyyyy?' Nancy Kerrigan video.
I felt like this movie did live up to most of the hype. The comedy made it not so painful to watch the abuse, and I did feel awful for her. Margot Robbie was fantastic as Harding, and Sebastian Stan was completely creepy as Gillooly. Allison Janney did similarly well as Tonya's mother. Overall, I was pleased with it. The last act did drag on a bit, but I didn't mind.

I hope this movie plays near me so I can see it.

It's so strange that they haven't wide released it, especially with the buzz and the timing (Olympics around the corner).

How far have we come?
While watching this film I kept thinking these events happened nearly fifty years ago and attitudes by powerful men toward women really haven't changed that much. The revelations in Hollywood recently were obviously long overdue and hopefully will start changing things for the better in the future.

The attention to detail in this film and acting were very believable and made you engage with the story immediately. Although the second act seemed to drag a bit, the developing relationships needed time to manifest to assist in the film's payoff.

I love a movie with a good soundtrack and this one didn't disappoint either as my toes were tappin' throughout.

Highly recommended.

By far the worst series yet
The latest series of the zombie thriller follows on from series 7, with Negan still in power and demanding tribute from the communities. Though those communities are now starting to rebel and fight back. The series is something of a roller coaster with ups and downs, but few twists or turns. The action plods along for the most part and only 4 or 5 episodes really excite or add much to the storyline. I think this series has stuck closer to the comics than previous ones, though the comics did not drag the action out as long.

I'm yet to the watch the season finale but I'm in no rush to see it either, which is completely different from how I've been with previous seasons. This season has been a big disappointment for me

I agree, though I promise you the finale is more action-packed than most of the series has been, though I know a few people who were not happy with how it ended.

A local group who have dubbed themselves the Winsome Witches use October to raise funds for literacy. However, this year their leader is murdered. With Jenna’s Aunt Vera a member of the group, Jenna starts poking around to find the killer.

I truly do enjoy these characters, and so I was delighted to spend time with them again. The plot does drag in the middle a bit, but the clues all come together for a great climax. There was also more about Aunt Vera’s supposed psychic abilities than normal, an emphasis I didn’t like. Overall, however, I found this a fun Halloween cozy.

The presentation
The premise
Da Vinci Code remains his best work, but I'd place this above his others.
This is a good solid thriller, with great use of personal moments and fears. This doesn't have the sheer puzzling out of symbols that Da Vinci Code had. But it's much better than Angels and demons. Spain is an interesting location, and the bilbao museum is a great setting to start the chase in. Some of his descriptions of the settings go on and on, which can be great if you've never seen them, or visited personally. But they also tend to drag the book a bit. Still, it's worth reading, and makes a good solid audio book which is how I read it... on my commute

Sleeping with the lights on at 30
Watched this again for the first time in years yesterday. Didn't seem half as scary when watching it with other people so didn't have to sleep with the light on this time (true story).
Sarah Michelle Gellar plays it well and some of the jumps and scares are brilliantly done. Raimi was going through a little horror spell with this and Drag me to Hell which also was pretty good, but did have a slightly more comedic tone than The Grudge.
Good supporting cast and well worth a watch, as its o e of the few American/Japanese updates that hasn't ruined the original story
