Dracula: Prince of Darkness- is a slowburn film. It takes it time to build of Dracula and once Dracula shows than it really gets started. Christopher Lee isnt in this movie very much even though he is Dracula himself, but once he is one screen, he stills the show.
The plot: Four English travellers arrive at a tiny hamlet in the Carpathian Mountains and ignore warnings from the locals not to travel to Carlsbad, the domain of Count Dracula. A dark, driverless carriage arrives to take them to the sinister castle, but they discover too late that they have been lured there to provide the blood which will allow Dracula to rise from the grave once more.
Dracula does not speak in the film, save for a few hisses. According to Christopher Lee: "I didn't speak in that picture. The reason was very simple. I read the script and saw the dialogue! I said to Hammer, if you think I'm going to say any of these lines, you're very much mistaken.
Screenwriter Jimmy Sangster disputed that account in his memoir Inside Hammer, writing that "Vampires don't chat. So I didn't write him any dialogue. Christopher Lee has claimed that he refused to speak the lines he was given...So you can take your pick as to why Christopher Lee didn't have any dialogue in the picture. Or you can take my word for it. I didn't write any.
The film was made back to back with Rasputin, the Mad Monk, using many of the same sets and cast, including Lee, Shelley, Matthews and Farmer. Shelley later remembered accidentally swallowing one of her fangs in one scene, and having to drink salt water to bring it back up again because of the tight shooting schedule, as well as there being no spare set of fangs.
Its a decent Dracula film.

I feel I should start this with something like 'I watched this so you don't have to' but that wouldn't be true. I watched this because I love 'So bad they're good' movies, so how could I not watch ' Nicolas Cage vs possessed animatronics in a family restaurant'.
So lets start with the obvious, Yes this is a 'Five nights at Freddy's' clone but that's never hidden, the poster, the trailer and even the films name tells you that.
Next, is it good? Hell yes. There are a lot of people out there who will say NO but that's the point. Willy's Wonderland is a modern 80's B movie and it's down there with the likes of 'Killer Klowns from Outer space' and "the Attack of the killer tomato's' or maybe something from Troma.
The animatronic costumes are creepy, their back story has been done before (but that's the point) and a lot of things make little sense, the restaurant seems to big, especially if you take the size of the air vents into consideration.
Then there's the Janitor, played by Nicolas Cage, who doesn't speak, has an alarm set so he knows when to have his next energy drink and who easily kicks the butt of the animatronics. That's it, there is no back story, almost no motivation and almost no reason for him being there. And we don't need it.
Willy's Wonderland is full of slasher and horror tropes. We have teens having sex and getting killed, we have Satanic cults, blood and creepy animatronics and almost nothing new. Except Nicolas Cage makes it his own. His performance is heading up to 'Mandy' levels but not quite as intense.
So, if you want to see a terrifying, serious horror then this isn't for you but, if you want to see Nicolas Cage beat up and animatronic ostrich then rip out it's spine ala Predator then this is the film for you (not really a spoiler, it's mostly in the trailer.)

Iris is a young woman who has returned to town to help her sick brother. She goes to a clinic to seek help for him only to be invited to a dinner party to play a game and whoever wins gets help for their loved one. Obviously she thinks it's a weird idea, says she will think about it and heads home.
After being turned down for a job and struggling to pay her bills, she decides to go to the dinner party. She is the 8th and final guest to arrive and is introduced to the group. Upon her arrival we skip to a scene with the host talking about the dinner party and you know somethings going to go down even though it isn't specifically mentioned,but it does leave you eager to find out.
A mini game starts almost immediately when Iris (a vegetarian) is told to eat meat for £10,000 which she reluctantly does. The host also tells a recovering alcoholic to drink alcohol for money.
The main game starts after dinner in which they take part in a game of 'would you rather' with a twist, the twist being they have to do their choice or face elimination. This is when it gets interesting because it is then known that if you try to leave you are shot!!
The first round is shock therapy and really messes with your head. Everybody has to choose to give an electric shock to themselves or someone else, and the rounds get worse as the game goes on, from stabbing each other to shooting another player.
It's a proper psychological thriller and incredibly disturbing in places but I couldn't stop watching, I needed to know who sees it through to the end. It definitely has a crazy shock ending which made me sick to the stomach. Overall though it was an enjoyable movie with an interesting plot, the acting was spot on and proceeded at a steady pace rather than rushed or being too slow.

I am an avid podcast listener. We're talking up to 12 hours a day, sometimes more, so I'm always looking for something good to feed my ears. I heard a We Drink and We Know Things promo on one of the podcasts in my usual rotation and was so taken by the hosts' personalities and rapport that I paused my usual podcast and went to WDAWKT and immediately dove into their latest podcast. It was so much fun, so interesting, and intriguing that I had to hear more! So for the next three days, I binged their podcast.
To say it's delightful may seem weird to some, considering the topics they cover, but nonetheless, it's true. It made me very happy to hear that they are from my home state of Kentucky because we have such interesting stories from here that need to be told, though that is not the focus of the podcast. Married hosts, Andrea and Tom, are charming, funny, authentic, and real, and their thirst for knowledge cannot be quenched. For that, I am grateful as it means they will never run out of material for their podcast and I'll get to listen to them every week.
Some of the topics they've covered are true crime, ghosts, haunted locations, paranormal, aliens, UFOs, cryptids, urban legends, conspiracies, weird science, strange historical events, and more, and regular episodes Florida Man Friday, Let's Not Meet stories, and Creepypastas.
I have several paranormal stories to share with them so maybe one day, you'll hear my story on one of their episodes.

I'm glad I finally got round to reading it...

This has been on my list for a long time. And when it came to choosing my books to take on holiday, I decided I should let Rainbow have her shot. Now, I'm glad I finally got round to reading it but thats not to say I loved it. I didn’t hate it, it was actually a rather lovely ending, but the journey to get there was soooooo long. I would classify myself as an introvert most day, at the risk of being stereotypical. But obviously Caths case is far more serious. But because of this, and not knowing anyone as serious as her, I couldn't follow. I don't see how she could have someone as lovely as Levi around her all the time and not be at least a little more accepting of strangers. And why go to college if all you want to do is write? At least she has a path chosen.
But, aside from that, the book is really lovely. You see a more realistic side to teen love. Slowly getting to know each other because quickly falling in love and not even realising it. And as inexperienced as Cath is, she's never forced into anything or made to do something she doesn't want to. And unlike a lot of other similar books, when her poor excuse of a mother comes back, she doesn't go running into her arms and all is forgiven. That just wouldn't happen. Similarly to Wren's alcohol poisoning. In most teen reads, they drink all they want with no consequences but Rainbow explored the apparently unheard of possibility of a teen underage drinking to the point of hospitalisation.
So, because of the realistic aspects, it was a brilliant book. But because I can't relate completely to the FL, or understand her very much, I didn’t enjoy it as much as I could have.
