It has been a LONG time since I have done any writing outside of my reviews (journaling/poetry/creative ramblings) and in just a few days of reading these devotions, my passion was reignited and the encouragement is exhilarating! I really enjoyed the prayer at the end of each devotion entry. The prompts and activities are excellent to motivate those creative juices. Whether you are a blogger, speaker, author or you just enjoy expressing yourself through writing, this devotional is for you!

How mass hysteria and inverted cultural beliefs become fatal
Once more, Netflix has showcased another harrowing documentary, this time set in New Zealand.

In the heart of Maori culture, lies the belief of Makatu, a curse or demon, that can allegedly be 'exorcised'. A poor young mother, Janet Moses, who either had mental health issues or was seemingly depressed, was confronted by her large family attempting to help her. Unfortunately their misguided deeply held beliefs included holding her down and plying water into her for days on end in a bid to rid her of a demon. And while they believed they they were assisting her, she eventually died after five days.

And of course a court case ensued about culpability. A truly terrible instance of dogmatic beliefs, cabin fever, and hysteria.

"It has every human emotion and condition in it, cowardice and bravery, fear, love, hate, desperation. It’s a movie about how at the end of the day, who will be there for you. I just love that. It’s also done in real time, and the acting style was different in those days, but when you’re watching those movies in that period you have to accept that and get the core of it. It’s a terrific movie."
