Ross (3284 KP) rated The Change 3: Paris: A City of Fools in Books

Loic, the main PoV character, is a former street child who has quite easily adapted to life under the streets, scavenging for food where he can. The main threat they face is the Impressionists, a race of paint-monsters who roam the streets and tunnels rounding up the people they find.
This book is more focused on people who have made a life for themselves following The Change (still a mystery, but safe to assume that weird things can happen now), rather than those struggling to come to terms with it.
It is quite an exciting tale of rescue, bargaining and trying to evade some very strange, but very Parisian, enemies who are never as they seem.
This book, for once, is fairly self-contained and has an ending and was a good short read.

Poppy is nothing special.
She was making ends meet and trying to enjoy life. But a strange necklace caught her eye at the thrift store. Now, three gorgeous men have stumbled into her life, and she's torn between being terrified and excited. That is until they tell her she is the future queen of the Underworld.
Not only that, but she needs to bond with her hellhounds, the three heads of Cerberus, and protect the Underworld from a goddess who wants it for herself. Forced to face unnatural enemies, and too-sexy-for-their-own-good men, Poppy must choose: keep the life she's always had or take her rightful place as queen.
If she survives.
Wasn’t sure I was going to like this! Although I love my Greek mythology themed books! I was actually surprised it was good the running theme is similar to a lot of those that I’ve read but it still made an enjoyable read. It’s certainly a series I’ll see through.

Unity (The Prophecy book 5)
By Jessica Wayne
The death of one of their own will bring about a war unlike any other.
Beaten down, broken, and battle-scarred, Anastasia isn't sure she has what it takes to keep moving forward. Especially when her enemy has corrupted someone she can't afford to lose.
As hidden truths come to the surface, she sets her sights on the one thing that could bring her power unlike any she's ever seen. The only problem is that power could also destroy her.
New enemies and old friends clash to bring back the light back into one of their own.
But death may be the only way to stop it.
I have really enjoyed this series I loved the first 3 books so much the last 2 were ok. I’m not sure they were really needed but despite this they were ok. Ana and Dekota finally get their happy ending and Vincent gets to redeem himself! The last two chapters and epilogue really give you a hero's win good feel. Hope you al enjoy it!

I think what surprised me the most was the dynamic between all the characters. It felt very effortless and natural, I don't think it was hard for them to get along, at least it didn't seem like it. And I think that they played friends to enemies to disappointed counterparts really well - specifically Renner and Farrell. They're both really strong actors and the subtleties they provided both their characters was really phenomenal.
I also loved seeing Jeremy in a different kind of role. I feel like we're partial to seeing him as Hawkeye, the Avenger, the hero, and this movie allowed him to be seen as something different. Granted it came out before the Avengers was ever probably a concept, but the point still stands. Also, the earrings. Loved those on him. But that's a minor detail.
Anyways! I really liked this film. Definitely worth the watch and not just a generic action film.

Xoe ( Xoe Meyers book 1)
By Sara C. Roethle
I am demon, hear me roar.
Xoe has a problem. Scratch that, she has many problems. Her best friend Lucy is romantically involved with a psychotic werewolf, her father might be a demon, and the cute new guy in her life is a vampire.
When Xoe’s father shows up in town to help her develop her magic, it’s too little too late. She’s already started unintentionally setting things on fire, and he lost her trust a long time ago.
Everything spirals out of control as Xoe is drawn deeper into the secrets of the paranormal community. Unfortunately, her sharp tongue and quick wit won’t be enough to save Lucy’s life, and Xoe will have to embrace her fiery powers to burn her enemies, before her whole world goes up in flames.
So it turned out not to be too bad at all. A bit more teeny than used to but it was an enjoyable read! Plus a new author for me to enjoy!
I’m interested to find out more about xoe it’s not often you see a female lead that’s a demon!
