Mad To The Max
You start the game, dealing with Scrotus and his forces. This is mostly cinematic but gets you ready for the game. You wake up after being thrown from Scrotus' wagon. Chum-bucket, a slightly unhinged mechanic and side kick helps you. Early on you learn thr iconic Ford Interceptor from the films has been broken into scrap. You seek to rid the land of Scrotus' influence.
The gameplay is really interesting, allowing you to customise the car to how you like. What ever your preference of car design you will find this available. To get main missions you have to lower the 'Threat Level' of Scrotus' forces. This is done by clearing outposts, minefields and destroying Markers (Scarecrows).
As you do more upgrades for weapons and car parts become available. The story lacks as it is purely about taking down the bad guys and does not give much investment. However it is really fun, driving round taking down the bad guys.
The weapons are fun, and once you unlock the Thunderpoon, tougher enemies are beaten easy.
If you like driving games, Mad Max and games where progression of the game is purely on the player than this is for you.
However if you are interested in games with much more weight to the story or compelling missions. Then you will not enjoy this as much.
Personally I love the gameplay and way the game progresses. It is the sort of game that while being open world you can invest a small amount of time in and get loads done.

Here’s the Scoop – This is a Tasty Mystery
A reception to honor outstanding achievement at the local college turns tragic when Tally Jones’s niece, Alice, finds the body of grad student Bryan. Bryan was another local attending the college, although he had clearly been making some enemies along the way. With Alice in the thick of things, Tally starts spending a little less time at her ice cream shop, Remember the A-La-Mode, and more time at the college looking for clues. Will she find the killer?
While the mystery starts strongly with the discovery of Bryan’s body just a few pages in, the book still seems to wander a bit. We are gathering clues and information on the suspects, but it isn’t until the second half that it feels like Tally is truly investigating and we are beginning to find clues and disregard the red herrings. Once this happens, the book gets very good, and I was fully hooked. Tally and her immediate circle are a fun group, and I enjoyed spending time with them. I also enjoyed the cameos by some of the supporting cast from the first book. The suspects were strong enough to help us tell them apart, but they could have spent a little more time on the page to be fully developed. I had forgotten that there is a love triangle in this series, although it looks like that is coming to a head, which I appreciated. There is more language scattered throughout this book than is typical for a cozy, but this is still a light, fun cozy sure to keep you cool on a warm summer day. You might want to make sure you have some ice cream on hand first, however, to satisfy any cravings.

After a period where it became quite tired and unimaginative, fantasy writing over the last decade or so become a good vehicle for interesting story telling. The Hidden Face is no exception for this, being in the epic fantasy mould but with some fresh ideas thrown in.
The premise is that every few hundred years the god Akhen manifests in human form and reveals (unmasks) itself, resulting in a huge shift in the balance of power between nations. If someone could know ahead of time who was the vessel for Akhen then whoever controlled them would wield enormous power. And there are certain parties who want that power at all costs.
Standing in their way are Dayraven, former hostage and son of a famous hero, and Sunniva, daughter of a scholar and archaeologist. Between them they must solve scattered clues and prevent their enemies discovering the secrets that they know.
There is a lot that is conventional here, but there are some nice twists that avoid the usual fantasy cliches. It is also refreshing for there not to be some all pervading evil that must be defeated. Here the simple lust for power is enough to create entirely suitable adversaries. Also there a lot of factions, all with their own motives and allies, some of which change of the course of the book.
The writing is strong, with some great characters. Special mention must go to The Twister, one of the most interesting personalities I've come across with his own internal logic for his often bizarre actions.
A terrific start to a new fantasy series that looks to be something well worth reading. There are certainly plenty of mysteries still to be revealed in this fascinating world.

When the planet Lorien is destroyed by invading aliens 9 refugee children who are bound by fate and will develop mystical powers come to Earth with their mentors. Each is given a number and they can only be killed in sequence. After Number Three is killed Number Four knows he is the next on the list, but he has a lot on his plate with not only his powers developing but his teenage school life becoming complicated. With the predatory aliens closing in he must rely on both friends and enemies to survive.
The basic outline is that of a good book but the detail and the execution somewhat let it down; too much of the back story is paper thin and invented for dramatic convenience. The killing in order thing is just hokey and absurd and that's just the start. The 9 aren't supposed to meet each other but that makes no sense as they would be stronger together. 'Henri', the mentor of Number Four is obseessed with secrecy yet sends him to school just when his powers are going to manifest in an obvious way. The plot itself doesn't quite hold together and the final showdown at the end of the book is over the top to the point of ridiculousness.
There are good bits, but they are generally unrelated to the whole Lorien part of it. The story of the new boy at school who gets on the wrong side of the school bully and befriends the previously friendless is good and works well with some good characters. This may have been better as a standard story of teenage life without all the science fiction trimmings.
I was disappointed with this book. I expected a lot more than it delivered. There are far far better science fiction books for young adults out there.

Getting stale
When Doctor Who first came back into our screens, I loved it and loved it for quite a few series however the longer the show has been running for, the more tired of it I become. Like with any tv show, I think there comes a time when you should call it a day before it starts to become stale and people lose interest. I’m afraid to say that Doctor Who has gone past that point for me.
Don’t get me wrong, this was still a fairly enjoyable series. I adore Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor, I think she’s rather wonderful and I’m surprised at how many people don’t really rate her. I also find all of her companions quite bearable and probably the most bearable out of all of those that have come before - most likely because they haven’t tried to shoe horn in some cringey romantic aspects with the Doctor. Although I can only think of The Chase when I look at Bradley Walsh.
The problem is that the storylines are all getting a bit old and rather samey, whether they’re new enemies or old ones returning. Especially with the old foes returning, how many more times can we see the return of the Daleks or the Cybermen? It’s been done too many times. It was nice in this series to see the return of a familiar friendly face and it was nice in a way to see the return of a familiar and much loved enemy, however without spoilers I will say that this returning face isn’t quite as good as the one that came before it.
Overall this was an enjoyable series but not particularly memorable, and I really think they should consider giving this show a rest for a while.

A fun game to play solo or with friends
Predator: Hunting Grounds is a new game from IllFonic, who previously created Friday the 13th: The Game - and it's easy to see the similarities between these games.
The idea is simple, you either play as the Predator, or as part of a 4 man fireteam.
As the Predator, your mission is simple, kill everything! To do this you will be able to seamlessly jump through the trees, using your various weapons/gear to hunt down and ruthlessly kill anything that moves.
As part of the fireteam, you and 3 other players will be given a mission to complete. You will have various objectives to complete within a time limit, before calling for a chopper and getting the hell out of there! During your mission you will have to fight your way through various waves of AI enemies to avoid being killed in action. Oh, there's also the small matter of avoiding the Predator as well, obviously.
Having played this game for a few hours, I'm finding it very fun so far. As you level up you will be able to unlock new weapons and gear, and the customisation options are quite impressive.
This game is totally online so you will be playing with other players around the world, however if you can I would suggest getting a fireteam full of your friends, it makes it a lot easier to complete the missions when you can communicate properly with your team.
As this game is very new, and it is an online game, there are a few bugs/glitches at the moment, however I'd imagine these will be fixed within a few updates.
