A great video game film
This is probably one of the best video game adaptations I've seen, and I was thoroughly impressed.
The story is quite engaging, and the casting is absolutely spot on.
If you watched the Mortal Kombat web series (which, if you're a fan of the game, I'd highly recommend), then this is an excellent continuation of it, but it's just as accessible for newbies.
Don't expect big things, but if you want a bit of martial arts fun, with some humour and mysticism thrown in, this'll be right up your alley.

What an absorbing read Dark Roads which kept me engaged.
This is a disturbing story of a highway littered with white crosses and 'missing' posters which is the hunting ground for a serial killer who prays on women who are unfortunate enough to find themselves alone on this particular stretch of road.
With great characters, a dark and claustrophobic setting and with great twists, this is an engaging read which, although, starts off a little slow, the atmosphere builds and builds to a very satisfying ending.

Louise Minchin has gathered 18 amazing, fearless women into this book. All women who haven’t taken no for an answer, and have followed their dreams to achieve amazing things.
I read loads of this out loud to my husband, who I’m sure enjoyed it as much as me! There are feats of endurance, skill and bravery. I’d love to say that it has inspired me to go off and do something equally “fearless”, but I’m more than happy to just read about it! 🤷🏼♀️

Firstly, I want to thank TWCS and Mike Walker for sending me this book because I flipping LOVED it! I honestly have not read a book so engaging in quite a while, so huge thanks! I'm likely to gush a lot whilst reviewing this, so I'll give you a brief over view now before going into a tad more detail but seriously this book is funny, touching, incredibly engaging, a fabulously fresh take on vampires and impossibly difficult to put down!
So let's pick up on some of those points, and I think the thing that deserves the first real mention is Mike Walker's writing style. He has such wit and dry humour that at times I was literally laughing out loud at this book (much to the aghast of some others in the doctors waiting room earlier today!) and I honestly tittered my way through the story. It's just so funny, even where it probably shouldn't be, and this is definitely down to the expert style of writing used by Walker. It's very hard to make me laugh at a book as I'm more of a fan of visual humour, but Walker had me literally rolling, and I'd love to thank him for cheering me up and making my sides ache!

Great world building
Crisp readable writing
WONDERFUL Fantasy book!
Gotta recommend this one! It was SO GOOD. The writing is clean and addictive, the characters are unique and engaging, the magic is... well... magically magical and unlike most of the generic magic floating around out there.
A cross-dressing pick pocket pirate, a promiscuous prince, a moody magician with a forgotten past,
a pair of twin villains who make the Lannister twins look like snowflakes, and a vicious blood-enslaved magician. How's that for a cast? Side note -- even the bit players in this book are well drawn and stir emotions when they die. Yes. People actually die in this one...I've read several books lately where SOMEONE obviously should have died SOMEWHERE along the journey and no one did. I was SO ready for some "let's get real and kill people so the stakes are high" reading.
Four different versions of London exist on different planes... each magical in varying degrees, all in danger of destruction from a magical artifact that accidentally smuggled between the veils. This is the scene for the grand adventure.
I was really struggling to get over my book hangover after finishing Queen of Nothing and this was like the nectar that healed me. I can't wait to dive into book 2!
Also, Kell is my new fictitious boyfriend. Move over Rhysand from ACOTAR, we're starting a reverse harem.
