I'm struggling between giving this a 6 or a 7. I settled on 7 because it's not necessarily entertaining, but 100% thought provoking. Some of the metaphorical journeys were difficult to unravel, but the allegorical shaping of the tale set in post Arthurian England was intriguing. I found that once I started the novel, I had to find out how it ended no matter what.

Early noughties (2003?) Rowan Atkinson vehicle, with Atkinson portraying the only spy England has left following a bombing - probably the most inept of spies there is. Imagine James Bond. Now imagine everything he did went wrong.

You've more or less got Johnny English.

Also starring Natalie Imbruglia and John Malkovich, the plot of this takes in stolen Crown Jewels, Johnny's attempts to regain them, and a coronation.

"A novel set in Tudor England that continues to move me on each reading—a beautifully written and emotionally complex book about Anne Boleyn that is courageous enough to resist easy explanations of the English queen’s appeal and creates a woman who could change the course of history with intelligence, style, and nerve tinged with recklessness, and driven by a dark ambition that eventually devoured her."

Quite an improvement over the previous volume! I could actually feel the grime and coal soot from the streets of Victorian England! It had a Dickens feel to it, with some darker, steampunk aspects to it! It was good enough to maintain my interest for the entirety of it, as well as keeping me on board for the new volume, LA DAMA de la MUERTE!
