In the second book, Bobby has the wonderful idea of jailbreaking his demonic girlfriend out of Hell trying to free her from the grasp of Grand Duke Eligor's grasp.
This book never fails to make me cry--and not for the reasons you think. There is plenty of torture, trauma, even rape--he is going to actual Hell after all-- which makes the interludes on why he is doing what he's doing refreshing even if they make me blush.
I admit my imagination fails me after a while with this book and while he does cheat on some of the torture it is still quite graphic, having both sex scenes (also in the non rape variety) and torture scenes. It is actually how Bobby himself slowly changes that is the most chilling as he adjusts to slowly losing himself in his new environment.
This book will make you think and may even challenge some of your views.

Sunset Boulevard (1950)
Sunset Boulevard (1950)
1950 | Classics, Drama

"Sunset Boulevard is the ultimate film noir for me. It has this incredibly unpleasant main character, who is played with a lot of charm by William Holden, and he thinks he’s really smart, and it turns out that he’s kind of in over his head. I love the environment. I love the way the story is told in flashbacks. I love the sense of Los Angeles. I love the humor in it — it’s a really funny movie — and it’s just one of those iconic things that, if you know the movie, you run into it once a month in some way, especially living in L.A. It’s got great lines in it. There’s incredible dialogue, incredible visual moments. Surprises. It’s a horror movie and a comedy at the same time; it’s all over the place in terms of genre. When I first saw it, I just couldn’t believe that it was a big Hollywood movie made by a studio because it’s so peculiar."

Indeterminancy, New Aspect of Form in Instrumental and Electronic Music by John Cage/David Tudor
(0 Ratings)
Album Favorite

"This wild ride was released in 1959. John Cage reads 90 one-minute texts, while David Tudor creates inventive cacophony in another room, out of hearing; so that any relation between voice and accompaniment is purely accidental, as Cage says in the liner notes, "to suggest that all things – stories, incidental sounds from the environment, and by extension, beings – are related, and that this complexity is more evident when it is not oversimplified by an idea of relationship in one person's mind." Cage's preoccupations include music, mushrooms, and Merce Cunningham; personal anecdotes, Zen proverbs and monk jokes, and lots of modernist name dropping. Tudor's palette includes prepared piano, springs, radios, and existing music, notably Cage's 1958 Fontana Mix. Cage complains that at his readings inevitably "someone comes up afterwards and insists that the continuity was a planned one, in spite of the ideas that are expressed regarding purposelessness, emptiness, chaos, etc." Planned, schmanned! This is a second book in Vanessa Munroe series. This new job was very needed, after character’s African adventures. (The Informationist) It makes me feel that author puts a lot of effort in making her research about the environment she is going to write. I loved all the details about the cult she mentioned and I am really glad she wrote this book because it educates people about what might possibly be going on inside such cults and how it makes people feel after they leave them. I do understand it is fictional work, but it was very close to all the documentaries I have seen regarding cults. This book is not very fast paced but there is a lot of insight to how Munroe’s brain works and her ability to integrate in to the situations. The ending could’ve been little more tense, but I was not disappointed with it. It is captivating book, it sucks you in and doesn’t let you down.

The protagonist in this book is Laura, and this book is told from her perspective only. I really liked Laura, she is a very independent woman, who really loves her little girl, and feels quite down after her divorce. She is trying to rebuild her life, and I salute her for that. I liked the characters that the author picked out for this book, they are all very glamorous and quite grotesque. I really loved how real Laura was in this posh and “plastic” environment. I really enjoyed the contrast between the rich and the normal worlds, that the author described in this novel, it was quite fascinating.

The narrative was not as strong as I hoped it will be. I enjoyed the story and the interactions between the characters, but I was missing the suspense and the moments when I am left with my mouth open due to a surprising and mind-blowing twist. (That did happen in the past

Another book that's been on my kindle since 2013.

Um...i don't know how to put my feelings into words about this one. The beginning bit was hard to read. I think this is the first book where domestic abuse has been described and happened in detail for me and I didn't enjoy reading it. Mia had such a shitty life at the start.

I liked Jordan a lot. He's the kind of guy I like my girls to get with in romances. Looks like a bad arse but is really a great guy once you get to know him.

Another thing I liked was that it wasn't set in a school/college environment like most other new adult books but at the same time, I kinda missed that element of football games, meeting after classes, sorority/fraternity parties... Yeah, I'm hard to please where NA books are concerned simply because I've read so many.

P.S. I love Dozer!
