I was surprised by this book. It was nowhere near what I thought it would be. The plot follows a girl who is all logic and no imagination. Luckily she has a friend who is the exact opposite. With her friends help and the help of a mysterious boy they fight off an evil witch and find the book.
I was impressed by the plot but the length made the story difficult to read. I found myself bored at some points and wanting to skip ahead. While those who enjoy witch books may enjoy this one it just wasn't for me. Maybe if it had been more compact I would have found more enjoyment.

Auburn (57 KP) rated Stealing Snow in Books
Apr 10, 2019
The synopsis on the book confused and intrigued me so I went ahead and bought the book. As I started it became clear that this isn't the Snow White story everyone might think it is. Snow has control over snow and is being hunted by her evil father, the king of the land. She has a bunch of suitors in the land she travels too but she only has eyes for Bale. Not everything is as it seems. I liked that they twisted the story and made Snow angry, like bitter angry. What I didn't like is how convoluted it was. If you weren't completely paying attention you might miss clues and such.

The Craggus (360 KP) rated Greta (2019) in Movies
Apr 25, 2019
Greta (2019) is a dark urban feminist fairy tale masquerading as a B-movie potboiler.
Neil Jordan has taken the streets of New York City and turned them into the sinister forest of a dark urban fairy tale only this time, it’s the evil witch herself leaving the trail of breadcrumbs across the city – in the form of emerald green handbags – all the better to lure the unwary children to her home for (spiked) milk and cookies. It riffs on fairy tale tropes from Hansel and Gretel to Sleeping Beauty, with the magnificent (maleficent?) Isabelle Huppert weaving her terrible and terribly camp spell at the core of this poisoned Big Apple...

All go on a journey and pick up yet another fun character in Ruby Rod (Christ Tucker was awesome) and have to get away from the eveil scorge who is out to stop them.
The movie is filled with fun characters, great action, a good story line and plot, and one amazing singing alien diva.

I usually love a good chick flick,
But this a film my wife dragged me too,
This film is hard to watch a part from the boobie shots and arm punching from me whispering the word boobie to my wife as she is watching it,
We also recieved a glare as the fight scene was so bad that the main character gets bitch slapped into a coma,
I said this to my wife and she could not hold it in at how bad it was.... hence the evil glare
And dont get me started on the bad guy called mr hyde...

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2379 KP) rated The Hero's Guide to Saving Your Kingdom in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Join Princes Fredric, Gustav, Liam, and Duncan as they must ban together to stop an evil witch from taking over their kingdoms. Of course, first, they must learn their own strengths and how to get along with each other.
This book was laugh out loud funny from start to finish with wonderful character growth and an engaging plot. My only complaint is that I didn't read it even sooner. With strong male and female characters, I think both boys and girls will equally love it. And adults will delight in this middle grade fractured fairy tale as well.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2379 KP) rated Once Upon the End (Half Upon a Time, #3) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
The trilogy comes to an end as Jack completes his training for his new master and sets out on a mysterious quest of his own. Meanwhile, May is living with her wicked step-mother and Phillip is wishing for more adventures. Will these three reunite to overthrow the Evil Queen? If you've enjoyed the first two, you'll love how the series ends. There's more humor and more twists and suspense. I always had a hard time putting it down. And if you haven't read the series? Don't start here, but read all three of them.

Chris Hooker (419 KP) rated The Light (Zombie Ocean/Last Mayor #9) in Books
Mar 18, 2018
Michael John Grist has taken me on a fatastic ride with the Ocean. I have been hooked since book 1 [The Last]. Amo, Lara, Anna, and the rest have become like old friends that I get to visit with once in awhile. From the first book I stated this was a different take on the whole zombie genre theme and it has continues to evolve and take me on twist and turns, ups and downs, right along with the characters. Grist really delves into what it means to be human and that the line between good and evil often is a blurry one. I am really hoping this is not the end.

Lee Ann (116 KP) rated This Fallen Prey (Casey Duncan, #3) in Books
Mar 13, 2018
Kelley Armstrong is a cruel, evil woman.
This Fallen Prey takes you on a rollercoaster as Casey tells you all about the day the Council drops a dangerous serial killer into Rockton without any advance warning.
What you get from that point on is a crazy edge of the seat ride as you try and figure out whether he's really what the council have claimed, or if there's something deeper and more complex going on. With betrayals and deaths and twists that just keep you turning the pages, the third book of the Casey Duncan series does not disappoint.
It does leave us with a minor cliffhanger.. and I absolutely cannot wait for the next book!

Clare Parrott (294 KP) rated Blind Faith (Sin Brothers, #3) in Books
Feb 13, 2018
Wow...That was fabulous. Sexy Nate finally catches up with Audrey after she left him five years ago. When their eyes meet across a ballroom it starts a rollercoaster ride of murder, weird cults and sexy nights, Nate will do anything to protect Audrey and his brothers as the series continues in the search for Jory and the kill switch codes so they can all live free without the threat of the Comander and Audreys evil mother Dr Maddison.
Its a fantastic read with never a dull moment, its action packed and super hot. Only problem I do have is the next in the series isn't out for 11 months! How will I manage without the Grey/Dean brothers.
