"She’s a classically avant garde, experimental composer who was part of the 70s New York scene that people like Julius Eastman and Arthur Russell were also a part of. Her album Pipe Dreams, which was given to me recently when I was living on my own in the Lake District, became a soundtrack to the moments where I embraced the solitude of living somewhere quite secluded by myself. It has these beautiful drone sounds that interact with bass, and it adapts to your mood in a way. It’s completely transportive – an album to lose yourself in."

"The lead singer for Deerhunter, Bradford Cox... I don’t like saying people are geniuses or whatever, but I just think that dude is so good at every single thing he does. He stays within his genre, but I think he does so well experimenting with stuff. He has two different bands. It’s just amazing how much he can expand over the one genre and make it radical. It’s a band I stumbled on and I was just pleasantly surprised by them. I really love all of Deerhunter’s stuff and they’re not afraid to get experimental which is really cool."

"I’m trying to remember records from when I was going through the most teenage, the most angsty periods of my life. I’ve got kids now, I listen to the radio sometimes, a I feel like as a teenager, what are you into? When I was at that age it was Portishead, I remember it soundtracking weird parties I went to where some kids were being more experimental with drugs. I remember it being quite an odd soundtrack to that time. And I think they’re a really brilliant band, one of a few uniquely British propositions, only Britain could produce that kind of group."

With the new single Tough Love from Molly Moore we get attitude and some badass groove. Molly Moore has been paying the bills writing hits for artists like Felix Cartal and DubVision ever since her early days in New York City. Now based in Los Angeles she is moving sonically into a more experimental production style and looking to build on the success of her debut EP Shadow of the Sun.

Moore discusses her plan to push her sound a bit closer to Banks and London Grammar; we think she has already found a place between Annie Lennox and Jamie Lidell.
