Intricately Woven Past and Present Storylines
This is a great series with a lot of potential. While the Pearson Family only has five family members, the season just wasn't long enough to fully develop the characters. But what we did learn about them shows we are on our way to learning about complex but "real" people. I love how the show goes back and forth in time from when the 3 kids were young to when they are adults finding their way in the world. The underlying theme is how did their dad die and how did his death impact each family member in the following years.

My whole family like to watch this show. We've laughed, cried, wondered what was going to happen next, and look forward to the quick wit each week.

Another enjoyable book from Keyes!
I listened to this on audiobook, and the narrator, Aoife McMahon, did a great job - except for the Geordie, male accent, but you can’t be good at everything, right?!
This is a funny, engaging book (a bit cringy during the sex scenes, but I suspect that might just be the convent-school educated girl in me ??‍♀️ ). The story was very enjoyable, although I did feel that she jumped into another relationship rather quickly (ahem, convent school...). But after listening further, it does make sense. She hadn’t been happy for a while, it seems. I loved the teenaged girls in the family - I think she wrote them realistically. I loved the family members too, and you get a real feel for an Irish family, and family dynamics generally. A great, fun book, with a few rather teary moments. Lots of feels, people!

Good Family Drama
Well I'm surprised at the critics poor reviews, once again...funny how they always seem to have a different opinion to the majority?! I thought this was a nice, low key, subtle, touching family drama. A simple tale based on an Italian film of the same name from 1990. A windowed father makes an impromptu road trip to see his kids when they fail to show up for a family dinner. Discovering along the way the truth about their lives they have kept from him as they only use to open up to the mother. It has plenty of nice little touches along the way, it can be sad at times but in other ways becomes a nice reminder about the importance of staying in touch with family. Great performance from De Niro and a good cast line up. Well worth a watch!
