Surprisingly Awesome
A yeti freaks out his entire community when he sees a mythical “smallfoot” (human) for the first time. Since no one believes him, he decides to go on a journey to prove that they are real.
Acting: 10
Solid cast all around. Channing Tatum is the lead yeti Migo and his voice matches the over-the-top innocence of his character. His father Dorgle is voiced by Danny DeVito who I thought delivered the best performance. You can feel that he loves his son and wants to protect him because he wants the best for him. DeVito is heartfelt and feels like a true dad.
Beginning: 3
The beginning had me wondering what the heck I had gotten myself into. It starts off extremely slow and I can’t help but think there might have been a better way to introduce the yeti and their community. There is much to love once the film progresses, however.

Smallfoot is pretty hilarious at times. The visuals are strong (watch this baby in 4K), especially when you’re looking at the lighting inside the caves and the beautiful sunrises. Perhaps the most memorable aspect of this movie, though, is its strong message. It revolves around finding truth and seeking peace. I love it when animated films give you something to think about.

1A great family film that does more than just entertain; it teaches us something. With beautiful visuals and a powerful message, Smallfoot was definitely a pleasant surprise in 2018.

Romance perfection
The enthusiasm and feelings are just rolling off me on finishing this book. It has given me such ‘smushy’ feelings at various junctures through the book and I am all toothy smiles and vacant stares now. THE KISS QUOTIENT is one of those truly memorable romances that are both real and perfect.
You’d have to be under a rock to not already have heard of this book and whilst I’ve heard lots of buzz from friends and my feed, I haven’t read one review. Therefore, knowing very little about the content, these characters were an immediate sneak attack of grabby hands to my brain. I felt complete absorption over Stella’s situation and plan to improve her social skills and sexual abilities with the aim to become girlfriend material. Stella knew herself through and through and the Stella I got to know was just total, lovable quirkiness.
Michael conjured all sorts of visuals in my head, each one rather delectable because that’s exactly what Michael is. I enjoyed the slow unpeeling of his character, meeting his family and getting to see the stand-up guy that he was. Michael with Stella was perfection, he saw, he understood, he valued...and I swooned, again and again.
The chemistry was mighty fine and each scene so wonderfully written. I lived in their moments and enjoyed being a fly on the wall.
Helen Hoang has invaded my world and I’m not letting her go. She wrote beautifully, from the heart with a tangibility that is unusual. I cannot wait to devour more from her and I’ve already planned a re-read for this book on my summer vacation.

The Night Falling by Katherine Webb is a historical novel with a romantic theme. The story is told from the perspective of two people: Clare, a middle class wife from England, and Ettore, a poor Italian "peasant". Set in Puglia in the summer of 1921, the two characters meet when Clare and her step-son, Pip, are forced to accompany Boyd to Italy where he is going to be working for Leandro, Ettore's uncle.
Clare and Ettore's relationship become more involved as they try to avoid their complicated feelings surrounding their other family members. Not only do they have their personal issues, there is antagonism between the rich and the poor. The so called "peasants" with their lack of food and jobs are fed up with the way they are treated by the rich authorities. Strikes have been unsuccessful so their only other plan is an uprising.
As well as the hostile environment story line there are many secrets that begin to be uncovered. Obviously Clare is keeping Ettore secret from her husband but she is unaware of the secrets and dangers he harbours.
It was interesting to see the contrast between the two classes of characters. Unlike England where the lines are slightly blurred between upper, middle and lower classes, Italy in the 1920s the differences were very clear cut.
In all honesty I did not think much of this book. I found it hard to get into and it did not get any easier as it progressed. Although I understand the storyline I found it a little bit boring and took me a while to get through.

Kevin Hart returns to theaters with his latest concert movie What Now The film features his concert held in Philadelphia, PA where over 50,000 adoring fans sold out Lincoln Financial Field.
Kevin Hart does more than answer the question as to “What Now?” He brings forth new material about his family, pop culture, relationships, and the quirky interaction that we all engage in during our daily lives. His routine offers fans and comedy lovers the opportunity to sit back and let the laughs take over.
Hart demonstrates with the turnout, material, and ability to keep a full house entertained that he is stand-up comedy’s rock star.
No one else is even close right now in being able to bring audiences of different cultures, races, lifestyles, professions, and backgrounds together in order to laugh at all of the things that make us uncomfortable or what we probably shouldn’t laugh at under normal circumstances. For Hart, nothing is out of bounds or considered safe.
Fans and newcomers will not be disappointed with Hart’s newest performance. The presentation of the act incorporates an interactive stage and special effects that allow the jokes to come to life.
At times, I found myself more interested in the technological aspects than the jokes. They were able to build off of each other and enhance the performance, even for the few jokes that miss the mark.
This film however, does not. There are more than enough quotes and lines that audiences will find themselves repeating or using in casual conversation. The performance is fresh and ensures that we will continue to see Kevin Hart for years to come.

The premise to this book is fairly simple but disturbing and frightening and every parents worst nightmare. I am of an age where I remember the chain letters (of the pen and paper variety!) doing the rounds when I was a youngster, I never took any notice and no harm ever came to me (yet!) but "The Chain" is in a different league all together and is not something that can be ignored ... ever!

The Wicker Man 2.0

Grieving over the Murder/Suicide of her mentally ill Sister and Parents, Dani decides to get away for a while to Hårga, in Hälsingland, the Swedish community that her and her Boyfriend Christian's mutual friend Pele lives in. Christian and Dani's relationship is at breaking point (unbeknownst to Dani) and the other 2 friends of Christian are encouraging him to finally split with Dani. However, feeling bad about what happened to her Family, Christian and Pele ask Dani to take the trip with them and on to Hälsingland the group of 5 friends go. On the first leg of the road to Hälsinglang, where it is their time to have a special festival called Midsommar, they hang out in a field where they are prompted to partake in some Magic Mushrooms, to which they all have a nice trip before moving on to the "Community". Hälsinglang is a beautiful and seemingly gentle and friendly community, however small cracks start to appear... and Dani's friends start to go missing. Is this community, in fact, a Cult? Or will Dani find the salvation she so desperately needs...
I have to admit, Ari Aster hasn't had me from the jump. Hereditary in my opinion is a bit beige and "meh", but the Culty look of Midsommar attracted my attention straight away and did not disappoint! It's visually beautiful and the story is actually very tragic and gives you a realistic look as to why and how some people actually do join cults. On the whole, I enjoyed this book of short stories. They’re all stories about women who are unhappy about some aspect of their lives, have lost their way and are working out how to get back. They’re all a bit magical realism, and just plain fantasy sometimes (this is not a bad thing for me, by the way!), and ‘Feminist Aesop’s Fables’ kept popping in to my head. It’s definitely a book to dip in to, and I did so whilst reading other books - I could see that reading all of these in one go could be overwhelming.
I think that these stories have a bit of something for everyone. I didn’t enjoy all of them, but I did have my favourites: The Woman Who Grew Wings is about a woman who flees her country with her family to live in the West, and the negative attitudes of the other mothers at the school gates (they’re not nice people) - this brought me to tears actually. The Woman Who Was Swallowed Up by the Floor and Who Met Lots of Other Women Down There Too - because who HASN’T had this happen to them at least once in their lives?! The Woman Who Ate Photographs was another tear jerker about how visual prompts (the photos) can bring back feelings connected to smell, touch, and the memories of our children before they grew into hairy teenagers (this one did for me, I’m afraid!).
I think all of these stories will resonate with someone.

Can Tally Clear Her Cousin of the Parfait Crime?
The country fair is in fully swing, and Tully Jones is hopping between her ice cream store and the booth she’s set up at the fair. Things get even more complicated when her cousin Bree’s ex-husband Sonny walks back into town after fifteen years. Bree is considering going after him for years of back child support, but before that can happen, he slaps her with a paternity suit, trying to claim that Alice isn’t really his daughter. The next day, Sonny’s lawyer is shot inside the haunted rodeo attraction at the fair, and the only other person in the ride is Bree. Tally can’t believe her cousin would do something like this, and Bree flat out denies it. But who else could it have been?
This is a great third book in the series. I loved the twist on the locked room puzzle presented here. There are several good suspects and clues that kept me reading as Tully worked to match the right suspect with the ability to pull off the crime. I also love the characters. Tully and her family are strong, and their relationships go through quite a bit here. I appreciate the growth it showed us for them. Naturally, the suspects are just as strong. I also appreciated that the characters understood why the police were focusing on Bree. They disagreed, but they worked to change their minds. Naturally, as an ice cream lover, I also enjoyed the ice cream descriptions. The book left me smiling and yearning for ice cream.

How come no one is talking about this, how come no one has seen this movie. People should know about this movie and see it, cause it is powerful, epic, sicken, disturbing, and over a phenomenal movie with a message.
The Plot: A tenacious attorney uncovers a dark secret that connects a growing number of unexplained deaths to one of the world's largest corporations. While trying to expose the truth, he soon finds himself risking his future, his family and his own life.
It is based on the 2016 article "The Lawyer Who Became DuPont's Worst Nightmare" by Nathaniel Rich, published in The New York Times Magazine.
Parts of the story were also reported by Mariah Blake, whose 2015 article, "Welcome to Beautiful Parkersburg, West Virginia" was a National Magazine Award finalist, and Sharon Lerner, whose series "Bad Chemistry" ran in The Intercept. Robert Bilott, the principal character in the film, also wrote a memoir, Exposure, detailing his 20-year legal battle against DuPon.
Mark Rufflo does a fantastic job in this film and so does Anne Hathaway and Tom Robbins.
