[Across the Rift]by[H Ann Ackroyd] started out slow for me and the format was difficult. The plot, characters, and setting was excellent though. I wonder if the formatting issue was with the eBook download if not it could use some editing. It was an enjoyable historic fiction.

This book is a semi-humorous science-fiction novel that takes place in a Star Trek-esque universe. Of course, everyone knows that red shirts always bite the dust, and these characters want to figure out why.
To avoid spoilers, all I'm going to say that it's meta.

Hi everyone, I’ve just discovered Smashbomb and I’m so excited to speak to people who are obsessed with reading as much as I am! What is everyone’s favourite genre at the minute? I love thrillers and horror but at the minute I can’t get enough of historical fiction!

I really enjoy a great thriller! I also like romance novels and I occasionally read erotica.

Early 'tec noir; if it only seems so familiar now it's because just about every such book since has copied that style of pulp fiction: the hard-bitten private eye, the liberal use of the vernacular, constant rain and the femme fatale are all now hallmarks of the genre

Really enjoyed this, was looking for a new series of vampire fiction and this hit the spot. Not sure how this would develop into a series as it seemed pretty independent for me and I can't see how it would be expanded... I will follow onto the next one
