One of the low budget late night films on the SyFy channel you know will be bad, but you just have to see how bad! It could have been a lot worse, but the minimum budget really effects a film like this that uses a lot of CGI. The effects for the ship at sea are very basic. It doesn't feature a great cast Brooke Burns is the most famous I think, and she is a model! It's a mix of disaster films including Titanic, Poseidon and The day after tomorrow. Only watch if you like cheesy films!

Average action film
Decided to give this a go although surprised at there being another MIB film. It's a fairly fun action film, not a serious film by any means. The scenes in London were quite good but overall the story is rather weak. It's not as funny as the original films and misses the chemistry of those films. On the other hand it's mildly entertaining for a light hearted action film. If you were a big fan of the original films you'll be disappointed though.

"In the mid-seventies I got more into the art of cinema (and into the arts in general), which coincided with a great period in American cinema. I got seriously hooked on Taxi Driver, Badlands, Days of Heaven. These films with alienated heroes, where landscape becomes soul-scape. They made me realize that cinema can be this amazing space where images, words, faces, landscapes, and music all melt together in a mysterious way. Even now, my favorite films are those that take you out of yourself, that make you enter this other world on-screen. These three films did exactly that to me."

The First Purge (2018)

Entirely unnecessary
It really frustrates me when they make films like this that are so obviously motivated by the money only. Did we really need a prequel to the Purge films to know exactly how it all began? Of course we didn't as everything we needed to know was in the other Purge films anyway. How many people have really wanted a Purge prequel? And sadly this film is as unnecessary as you'd expect.

Most of it plays out in a similar way to the others, and is entirely predictable and lacking in originality. It doesn't even have any creepy costumes or decent deaths like the others, so it really is lacking entirely. It gets slightly more interesting towards the end with the Raid-like tower block scenes but even this seems to just be trying to replicate the Raid and all of the other films like it. The characters too are all immediately forgettable.

Unless you absolutely love the other Purge films, this really isn't worth a watch.

Movie Favorite

"Two films from the same year, each the start of my favorite run of movies from its director. Brian De Palma is my favorite director of all time, in the sense that I get more “if I was making films, I’d want them to look and feel like this” moments watching his movies than anyone else’s. For me, it’s with Dressed to Kill and then Blow Out that De Palma really homed in on the look, feel, and all-around aesthetic that I love from him and it’s something he brought with him to his next two films, Scarface and Body Double (which, along with Carlito’s Way, round out my favorites of his career to date). I love Thief for being Michael Mann’s incredible feature film debut as well as a blueprint of sorts for a number of films that came after it. It’s the first of my three favorites from him, rounded out by his next two films, the often panned but visually amazing The Keep (again with a great Tangerine Dream score) and Manhunter."

Transformers Films from Michael Bay, is it time for them to End?
Should a film based around the original 1980s toys, now become a reality?

The current film has elements similar to the 86 animated film and mentions Unicron. I like the action and Sfx but the first 2 were the best ones for me.

I was forced /paid to watch it tonight, even after I swore to never watch one of his films again.
I really find nothing but contempt watching any of them since No 2. They make me angry and upset at the Sheer lack of quality in anything but the Visual Effects. Exposition, script issue's, character portrayal all of it is just awful. Yet again also it felt like an hour overlong.

The weaker of the first 4 films. It mainly spoofs Hollow man, The Matrix, House on haunted Hill. Skip this one and watch the 3rd.
