My go to film if I ever want to feel better
I first watched it on my 9th birthday, really upset because me and my family travelled for hours to go to a theme park only to find it closed due to a bad storm. From the very start of the film, I was cheered right up.

I love Stitch from the very start and I felt like I could relate to Lilo when I was a kid.

The tells you that you can always find people who will love you and you can always break expectations others hold on you. It has a wide variety of characters from the mad scientist, to the secret agent pretending to be a social worker. The animation is smooth and the designs of the characters are great, completely different to other Disney films, which I love. Plus it's about aliens and I am all for that!
Now that I have rambled about it, it's reminded me that I need to rewatch it!

Ellie is a quiet introverted unpopular girl, she works hard to support her and her father, and even charges classmates to do their homework to earn extra cash. When one of the jocks, Paul, asks her to write a love letter to a girl, Aster, she at first refuses, why? She is also in love with her. But when her electric company threaten to cut her off due to being in arrears with them, she agrees to write Paul's letters and charges him $50 for the privilege. They become friends as Ellie continues to help Paul get closer to Aster through letters, texts and awkward dates.
It might sound like a romance movie, but it really isn't. It's more about the friendship between the two characters and its done really well, Aster is only a way of getting these characters closer and isn't a main part of the story. I liked how we see the friendship develop and was refreshing to see a movie where love is not the intention, proving that boys and girls can be just friends.

"This whole album Live Through This is probably my favourite record of all time, I feel so empowered by it. I love Courtney Love, she’s a very unique, kind of controversial character who’s very outspoken, who does wild, weird things and has that guttural voice. And it’s still pop, the melodies are very singable. “It got me through a horrible break up. I listened to the album on repeat and I was ‘I can get through this, because Courtney Love has gotten through some crazy shit.’ I was angry for a lot of reasons, relationship stuff, music industry stuff, and it became my armour or something. ‘Violet’ was the song on that record that first made me go ‘Whoa.’ “Sometimes I think ‘Miss World’ is my favourite but ‘Violet’ broke down the door of how to be a screaming woman, I learnt to scream and sing differently from that. She opened up that world of ‘fuck off everyone and fuck what anyone thinks of you, I don’t care.’"
