"I actually had the poster of Saving Face hanging in my room for a long time. It was the first Asian-American movie that I saw that really connected with me. I’ve seen some Asian-American indies, but that really kind of opened up my search for them. I didn’t even really know about the genre when I first saw it. It was written and directed by an Asian-American woman, Alice Wu, and it centers around, an Asian-American lesbian. It stars one of my favorite actresses ever – Lynn Chen – and Michelle Krusiec. This girl, she’s from Queens, and she takes the 7. It was the first time I’d ever seen a movie with an Asian American on a 7 train! I think that was the first time I really understood what representation was. But it hit closer to home because she was an Asian-American woman and because, you know, she is from Queens. And she went to Flushing all the time, and her mom [Joan Chen] was kind of this Flushing socialite who actually becomes pregnant. And she kind of has to go between both worlds of being the good Asian daughter and also coming to terms with her sexuality. It was one of those movies that I think explored a lot of layers about the Asian-American experience and the negotiation that come with it. And, so, I love that movie so much. I still have the poster somewhere."

Some Good Games, Some Dull Games
I love Cyanide and Happiness. It is awesome. So I Kickstarted this game when it came out without any hesitation. The idea is pretty simple and similar to Cards Against Humanity with pictures. Everyone has seven cards. You draw one from the pile and play as the first card, the Judge plays another card either in front or behind the first card and then everyone else plays a card to complete the comic strip. Then the Judge decides who wins.

It can be totally hilarious and I have played games where my sides have hurt from laughing. I've even cried. Sadly, I have also had games where the images just don't work and nothing is funny and it is just a bit awkward as players try to play something and fail.

That being said, it is an easy beer and pretzels game that does what it sets out to do reasonably well. If you love Cyanide and Happiness and are willing to take the risk of some dull rounds (or even whole games) then it is definitely worth adding to your collection for those games where everything just drops into place.

Shave & Shimmer (Sangre Trilogy #2) by Alex Carreras
Shave & Shimmer is the second novella in the Sangre Trilogy, and now that Asher has found love, he is determined everyone should. The first person on his matchmaking list is Tory, the high maintenance twink we were first introduced to in Asher & Niko's story. Tory wants to find The One, but has had no luck so far, which is why he agrees to Asher's suggestion that they go on a double-date. It starts off well, but ends badly, through no fault of Tory. He finds out more about Ray's past and what made him react that way.

This is once again a well-written but extremely fast-paced novella. It ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, no doubt leading to the third and final story. The story, this one moment in their lives, is well-told and is complete. I would love to know more about them, and what their futures hold though.

I just finished this audiobook for the second time and realized I never left a review for it the first time. I heard about this book while I still worked at a bookstore. One of my coworkers snatched the ARC when it came to us. I listened to her raving about the book so I had to buy it the second it came out. I bought the audiobook because it has a full cast and that is always a huge plus for me.

I was not disappointed with this book. The narrators were phenomenal. The full cast really just makes the book. I love the mystery of the book. I really didn't know what to expect at anytime. It was fascinating to listen to this novel and I couldn't put it down. I was hooked by the first chapter which is rare for me.

The characters are brilliantly developed and I love how learning more and more about them. I'm truly invested in all of the main characters. I cannot wait to reread the next book & I'm chomping at the bit to read the 3rd book.

If you like Science Fiction this is an amazing novel. I highly recommend it.
