Good glory to Rome style art.
Flow of history has a lot to love.
Glory to Rome is out of print. And it’s rare to find a copy for sale for less that $200. Which is a lot for a small card game. This one searches the itch but is also different enough to be its own thing. On first play it feels less swingy than GTR. I really started to see how it worked about 1/2 way through. And wished I’d done things very differently. My friend backed it on Kickstarter and now I’m wishing I had too. This needs multiple plays to be sure I love it. But I go to game night to try new things and this delivered. Kudos to the designers for trying to fill a void while still making a new game.

graveyardgremlin (7194 KP) rated A Summer to Remember (Bedwyn Prequels #2) in Books
Feb 15, 2019
In a lot of ways I liked A Summer to Remember better than it's predecessor, One Night for Love. Lauren turned out better than I had hoped (or feared, rather :P), and the love story between her and Kit was very sweet, realistic, and lovely. I couldn't ask for more! I loved how Lauren gradually opened herself up and became a whole person - it was just wonderful. Pure magic in this book. That's all I have to say - definitely a keeper for me. :)
Now...I'm not sure how I'll be able to like Freyja with how she is written in this book. I wish her book was the first in the Bedwyn series so I can get it over with. I'll just have to have faith in Ms. Balogh and how she writes her and her story, because I didn't like her in the least here. I'll cautiously go in. :D

Sarah (126 KP) rated Amazon Kindle in Apps

Great on All Devices
I love the Kindle App. I have it on my iMac, Macbook, Chromebook and Android phone, as well as using the native Kindle reader on the Amazon Fire tablet.
I love how, no matter what device I have with me, I can always read whatever book I currently have on the go, provided I either have an internet connection or I've already downloaded the book (I'm rarely without a connection - and if I know I'm going to be, then I'll make sure the book is downloaded before I go out!).
I have a Kindle Unlimited subscription - having the Kindle app installed on all my devices means I can really make the most of the subscription, reading a few pages of a book here, or a quick glance through a magazine there. It's definitely one of the first apps I install whenever I change or upgrade any of my devices.

Lindsay (1760 KP) rated The Winnowing Season (Amish Vines and Orchards, #2) in Books

I loved this book even more. It tell you more about Ronda Bayler. I love the fact that it tell us about her and she learn a lesson as well about a few things and what gods wants. Though does she know that she may be in love with some else but thinks it Jacob. We will have to see about that in the next book.
This book also goes in to depth about Jacob past as well. I do not know want to give way anything. I strongly you read this book if you have read "A Season for Tending". If you have not you can read this on first and then the that one. But that up to you.
In this book, you learn more about Ronda and her family a bit and also about Jacob and Samuel. There some fun things that happen and what they were learning about how to start a settlement in Maine. Do they learn about Friendship as well.

Sean Farrell (9 KP) rated Artifice in Books

I had been meaning to read this graphic novel for a while, having heard good things about how it used a sci-fi / action story to talk about homophobia, racism, free will, first love, and self-acceptance; and in light of recent current events, it seemed like the perfect time. The artwork is absolutely wonderful, and perfectly captures all the nuances of the story, which is pretty great in itself. While it can occasionally feel a little predictable, the tale of Deacon and Jeff was sweetly romantic and contained many moments that I found very relatable, in spite of the science fiction setting and sporadic bursts of violence. In a way, this story is similar to recent British hit anthology show "Black Mirror", in that it uses its sci-fi setting to tell a deeply human story to great effect. While it may fall a little short of being a masterpiece, it is a great comic, and one I would love to see continued.

Louise (64 KP) rated The Manifesto on How to be Interesting in Books
Jul 2, 2018
This was my first Holly Bourne novel and I had had it on my TBR for ages and kicked myself for not picking it up sooner. I love YA contemporary books, I love all the feels you get and how invested you get into the story. I was surprised how much I loved this book. I liked Bree and it was interesting to see how much she developed as a character. This book showed you that you didn’t need to be popular to be interesting but it also showed how uncomfortable it was trying to fit in with a crowd that is not the norm for you. It showed valuable life lessons and had really powerful messages. I would have rated this 5 stars but the ending didn’t turn out as I wanted it to but I still loved it. This book does have a teacher/student relationship, so if that’s not your thing I would steer clear.

Beautiful and my favourite film
I was so young when I first watched this film and I can honestly say that I have never watched anything more beautiful and heartwarming.
This is a movie that shows love, friendship, loss and hardships. It’s so beautifully drawn you feel such a connection that it’s as if the characters leap off the screen and are sat there with you. Watch out for little Easter eggs that hint at their other creations and it will make the experience even more enjoyable. It’s hard to spot them all but it’s a fun game once you’ve watched it a few times.
If you haven’t watched this film yet I urge you to watch it, but be prepared to fall in love and never be able to forget this film.
Just remember once you’ve watched this, watch all the other studio Ghibli films as you can’t stop at this one.

BookwormMama14 (18 KP) rated With This Ring?: A Novella Collection of Proposals Gone Awry in Books
Jan 2, 2019
This was a very entertaining collection of stories. I was thoroughly entertained with these proposals gone awry. From Texas 1879, to Kansas 1901, there are enough laughs and gasps to go around.
I love reading novella collections because it gives you a taste of the author's style. The love of reading does have a lot to do with finding a book, genre, author "to spark your fancy". I went several years without reading much because I was trying to force myself to read a style that I just wasn't interested in. Now, I have read more in half a year than I typically read in several years put together. I have read several books by Mary Connealy, but this was my first taste of the other authors. I can honestly say that I am looking forward to reading their full length novels now. Very humorous and sprinkled with faith. This novella collection is the perfect combination of stories for any reader who loves a good western romance.

What a story
Lyra and Pan's journey, and the characters they meet along the way, ranks as one of my favourite works of fiction. The descriptions, the details and varied points of view, make this an engaging and compelling read. I have to say, it was not easy to put down.
The changes the first film made were not good (as proved by the lack of sequels) though it had some great casting. The new series looked promising, but since I read the books bacķ in 2010, I think I will have to revisit them soon!
This magical coming of age story was so lovely, I gave the hardback trilogy to my 9 year old niece who loved it, and has been loving fantasy since!
I recommend this for the hitting puberty audience, since that is a strong theme throughout, but an adult with a love of the genre would love it too!.

Can not get enough
Played this first after falling in love with Skyrim, and the beauty of an open world RPG.
The wit and references in this game make it a great play for anyone a little nerdy.
This game rewards the explorer! The one hunting in every corner of the map, finding all the hidden gems Bethesda has to offer.
The idea of an alternate reality where the world has fallen to nuclear animation is both interesting and terrifying. It is well though out, exciting and heavy on the details. I love How you have to search through locations, such as the vaults, to hunt for clues on what has happened.
There are so many quests, location and unique items, it will take a long time to play though.
I am now on my second go around, forgot how hard a full bobble head collection is to acquire, but I will do it again!
