Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2196 KP) rated Mr. Monk Is Open For Business (Mr. Monk, #18) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Before Natalie and Monk can have an official grand opening for their new PI business, they wind up with two cases. First, there's the murder suspect who won't explain why he was moving a body in a vacant field. Then there's the mass shooter who vanished despite being surrounded by police.
Both of these mysteries are great and kept me engaged the entire way through. The characters and their growth are wonder as well, and the humor had me grinning when I wasn't outright laughing. Fans of the series will love it.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2196 KP) rated Once Upon the End (Half Upon a Time, #3) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
The trilogy comes to an end as Jack completes his training for his new master and sets out on a mysterious quest of his own. Meanwhile, May is living with her wicked step-mother and Phillip is wishing for more adventures. Will these three reunite to overthrow the Evil Queen? If you've enjoyed the first two, you'll love how the series ends. There's more humor and more twists and suspense. I always had a hard time putting it down. And if you haven't read the series? Don't start here, but read all three of them.

Erika Kehlet (21 KP) rated A Clue in the Stew (Soup Lover's Mystery, #5) in Books
Feb 21, 2018
What a great cozy even thought this book (#5) was the first I had read in this series, by chapter three the main characters all felt like old friends. The story is full of twists and turns that kept me guessing right up to the end, and the authors smooth writing style kept the story flowing. If youve read any of the Soup Lovers Mysteries, you should love this one. If not, nows as good a time as any to start you dont need to have read the previous books to enjoy this story, and I did enjoy it!

Anna Steele (111 KP) rated Ones and Zeroes in Books

Binary is cool!
This is the sequel to Bluescreen and it definitely adresses some of my qualms with the first. There is a lot more action in the game in this sequel, the Cherry Dogs get into a tourny and it is the main focus of the novel. I love the group effort that present throughout this book, unlike many dystopian society novels where the main character can barely trust anyone and they feel like they have to save the world all by themselves and keep secrets and feel personally responsible for every death their stupid plan caused, this is a breath of fresh air. Everyone plays a part and Marisa definitely couldn’t have done it alone.
Tracy (238 KP) rated Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Vol 1: The Crucible in Books
Aug 15, 2018 (Updated Aug 15, 2018)
The over the top Satanic Witch storyline (3 more)
Great plot!
I really liked the art
I have several issues with it (see below) and I still love it too much to give it less than 10 bombs
It needed some spell checking. Several errors in the writing. (3 more)
The Witches (especially Sabrina’s Aunts) lack substance. I hope that will change as the series develops.
These ideas of Satanic Witches being cannibals and murderers and Satan being conjured in the woods is fun at first, but it seems so irresponsible to revert back to the ideas that created Satanic Panic.
The aunts are cannibals. Fine I guess, but why?
It’s like EC Comics had a baby with the Archie Universe
Alicia S (193 KP) rated Ghost (Boston Underworld, #3) in Books

What an incredibly fabulous book!! I devoured the first two books in the series and Alexei & Talia's story sucked me in from page one! My heart broke over and over for these two, both two haunted souls unable to move beyond their pasts. Struggling to feel worthy in anyone's eyes... Talia finds strength in his overpowering dominance and in her he finds solace. A dark yet incredibly beautiful book about two people who slowly come to realize that no matter how screwed up any of us are, we are all worthy of love and forgiveness. HIGHLY recommended book, series and author!! Five stars just aren't doing my heart any justice on this one!? ;-)
Danielle Chaplin (81 KP) rated Goddess of Legend in Books
Jun 17, 2019
Inspiring
This was the 2nd book that I read in the Goddess series and it was just as good as the first one I read. I love how strong and thought out the female characters are, how they tend to be more mature women that are still finding themselves rather than the clichéd teen dramas, and the attention to detail that Cast puts into the world building.
This is a retelling of a sorts of the Legend of King Arthur and is simply brilliant. If you enjoy retellings of fairytales and myths then you really must read this series, please note that it isn't for younger readers as it has explicit content.

Naomi Forrest (42 KP) rated Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! (2018) in Movies

Wouldn’t watch again
Contains spoilers, click to show
I should start by saying I watched the first film every day for a fortnight, such is my love for it. I was really disappointed by this version. Lily James did well taking in the role of young Donna but the story was so disjointed. For example, Sophie is sick once and knows she is pregnant? I also feel Cher’s role was unnecessary, she’s never been on the scene for Donna or Sophie then she turns up, decides to be grandma and is immediately accepted, just so she can sing a couple of numbers?
Good choice of ABBA dogs, not the most expected ones.

Deborah (162 KP) rated Habits of the House (Love & Inheritance Trilogy, #1) in Books
Dec 21, 2018
I really expected to like this book, but it didn't really live up to my expectations. Plot is aristocratic family, land rich and cash poor and what are they going to do about it. Nothing really new there either. Some other reviewers have seen this as a brilliant satire, but I'm afraid for me it was just a novel with lots of characters, many very undeveloped and most of them not even very likeable.
It is supposed to be the first part of Weldon's Love & Inheritance trilogy, but a lot of lose ends are tied up and this could really be a standalone novel. Certainly I'm far from feeling the compulsion to read the next two volumes.

Lindsay (1717 KP) rated Ted the Friendly Frog and the Tale of the Diamond in Books
Dec 19, 2019
We get introduced to Ted. We find out how he spends his day. Though in the first adventure he has. It when his grandfather asks him to watch a diamond of his.
As you read. You find out that Ted as a mishap? Will he tell his grandfather. Will Ted learn his lesson. You can learn from your mistakes. I enjoy how the author does this. Children will learn about making mistakes. Will they learn to listen to their parents and friends?
The author does well with this. The pictures are done well. I love how the story is told with the pictures. There even rhyming going on throughout the book. Children can learn to read as well.
