Genre: Sci-Fi, Fiction, Dystopia, Fantasy

Audience: Young Adult

Reading level: High School +

Interests: science fiction, fantasy, video games, 80’s

Style: Sci-Fi

Point of view: First person.

Difficulty reading: It started off great and I flew through the first half of the book. It’s towards the 55%-75% mark that was a bore for me. But the ending was great!

Promise: Dystopian Sci-Fi video game world

Quality: Minus the 20% that was pretty darn boring and long, the book as a whole was a great read.

Insights: I’m not a huge gaming geek, so without Cline explaining half the time what these gaming terms are, I’d be as lost as a pig in a supermarket. For that, I thank him. It was nice seeing a Dystopian world set in the future that was still in our lifetime. I have never read anything like that – cool to see how Cline wrote it.

Ah-Ha Moment: SPOILERS AHEAD!

Okay, I knew Aech was hiding something. But I could not figure out what it was for the life of me. But when Aech and Parzival first met, in real life, face to face, I WAS NOT EXPECTING him to actually be a ‘her’.

This was me:

Favorite Quotes: “Going outside is highly overrated.” – Yea, I feel ya too. I just want to stay in and read all day every day. Who needs a job, who needs to eat, all we need are books. Am I right?

“You’d be amazed how much research you can get done when you have no life whatsoever.” – I mean, you’re not wrong.

“One person can keep a secret, but not two.” – Secrets, secrets are no fun. Secrets, secrets hurt someone.

Aesthetics: The whole book is an 80’s aesthetic that I love. Plus, it gives a brief inside scoop on the whole “if we don’t care for the planet now, there will be nothing in the future” debate. Which is true, we should care for the planet more than what we do now. I mean we only live on Earth just as much as everybody else. The copy of Ready Player One that I have, is a 2015 Special Edition copy – I love the cover on it.

“People are more than just the way they look.”

Sooo..... YYEAAAAHHH this was crap.

Not in the worst way imaginable but this was a high struggle for me to get through.

But i couldn't put it down.

I was going to DNF this at first due to the writing and the dialect and the god awful main characters but after 100 pages in I put myself back in my freshman years and holy crap did this book do Freshman 1st love justice.

I remember thinking a lot of the same things and being that over-exaggerated at that age

But it was still a struggle not to continue to roll my eyes through most of this.

I was okay with the ending .

It gave it a fresh take on real relationships and i could appreciate the author ending it the way he did.

I definitely want to try another book from this author that's not in YA.

There are 2 things I want to say about this audiobook.

1. The narration does not fit the feel of the book. The narrator would be great for a kids story but not for an adventure story like this. So if I were you, I would read it, not listen to it.

2. When I first started it, I had my doubts; but about 2 chapters in, I knew I was hooked. Even though the narration irritated me, this story is so involved, exciting, entertaining, and all-consuming, that I am dying for the next one. I am so excited and will be waiting for the release date.

If you love adventures, pirates, revenge, and a little hint of magic, this one is for you.

Content/Recommendation: Some violence and mention of sex, but no sexual content. Ages 16+

These are some inspiring mittens! Everyone probably knows by now that I have a fetish for mittens. Well this book makes my fingers itch. I love them and cannot wait to make them all.

There are very good color photos, good instructions, and variations for many of the patterns. In the back there are basic instructions, although I would not recommend this book to beginners who do not already have a good knitting foundation. Mittens are easy, but not for a first-time project.

My only complaint is that some of the photos are very artistic and show off the mittens/gloves pretty well, but I can’t see the whole mitten. That gets a little annoying… but it’s not really that big of a deal and I’ve had no problem envisioning the finished product.

Recommendation: Intermediate/Advanced knitters

Did Not Finish

I really loved the idea of this book, it sounded great and it won five book awards. But after the first few chapters, I felt like I still didn't know what was going on and I didn't know who the characters were. I love spy books! They are my absolute favorite… but I didn't feel compelled to read this one. And I have come to realize that if I have to force myself to read something, why read it?

The writing was pretty good, and it had some funny lines, but it wasn't enough to keep me reading. I also really liked the phone calls, but still it wasn't enough for me.

I really wish I had liked this one more. However, check out Goodreads and Amazon for more reviews (30+ 4- and 5-star reviews), you will see that I am in the minority.

Stormi (105 KP) rated the Xbox One version of Call of Duty WWII in Video Games

Ok...I'm a girl and I guess it is just amazing when females play video games. I always get friend requests while I'm playing and the guys are like "hey, you are pretty good!"

Duh! I'm a girl and I can play too! LOL!

That being said.....I love this game. I have been a COD junkie for a long long time. I have played all the games and my favorite time of year is NOV. When the new game comes out each year. This game was and is awesome. It had a few glitch issues when it first came out, but I took a break for a while (oops, a few months went by, because well, LIFE) and when I came back the gameplay is so much better. Less glitches, great new weapons, new gear. This game is one of my favorites of the COD games.

One of the best games ever... Made even better!
One of the most popular games of all time got a make-over for the GameCube in 2002. This version had much improved graphics and it looks amazing... I didn't think the GameCube could produce graphics this good. The lighting and shadow effects really brought it up to date! The sound and controls were also improved, along with some other new features.
I played this on a friends PlayStation back in the day but the first time I got to fully play this was with this version... Playing through the Nintendo Wii! Just need a memory card and a controller. Otherwise it's the awesome game we all know and love. A HD version of this update got released for the next gen consoles in 2015.

Twisted
A True Masterpiece of Psychological Horror
I am sadly disappointed to see this film so unappreciated as I truly believe it is nothing less of a masterpiece. From the carefully painted scenes to the perfectly executed acting this film holds nothing but love in my heart as it captures the true twisted outlook of today's world, carefully balancing racial ideas that would make many uncomfortable while hiding themes throughout the whole picture that keeps you watching again and again. When this film first came out I went to see it three times unable to get enough of this twisted, psychological thriller. This film is not for the faint of heart or those who get uncomfortable at the mention of racial topics. This is a film for those who enjoy tackling hard topics and are unafraid to face the truly twisted truths of the world.

Before you even read the book the cover will draw you in! Look at that thing of beauty.
The book begins in such a way that you are immediately drawn in and need to know what will happen next. I was not expecting the twists to start in the first chapters.
The book is told from alternating points of view. These views are 1000 years apart but as you get through the book the similarities start to show up. By the time you are done you can see the bigger picture and just how massive the world building is.
This is a not to be missed series that will take you on an adventure filled with drama, romance, and magic. Come fall in love with these characters just as I did.
This book is perfect for fans of epic world's, strong female leads, and romance that will keep you swooning

Detective Pikachu doing a Video game movie right

Detective Pikachu was one of the movies I had planed to see this summer being the fact that it is the first live action Pokémon movie.

I was highly surprised with how well the story was handled and how it maintained the main themes of the Pokémom franchise (friendship, love, and striving to be the best)

Though I do believe that the movie had the issue of thinking it needed to have its audience seeing something happen at all times such as having the Apom (Apalm?) attack last what felt like ten minutes.

I do think that the ending is satisfying with having the main character to grow closer to his father.

I do recommend seeing detective Pikachu expecially if your a long time fan of the Pokémon franchise.
