I'm settling for an average rating because while I liked the genre listing aspect with the many varieties of books, I felt like the author needed to tell more about each book, and frankly, the book wasn't a very enjoyable read, it was too dry. More information was needed so that I would even get interested in books she mentioned; sorry a title and author are not enough. The book wasn't that big that she couldn't elaborate on her thoughts of the book. What are her reasons for recommending the book in the first place? The author was also repetitive, she mentioned The Prince of Tides at least five times, once is enough. What's the point of badgering the reader that she likes it? I found it more palatable by reading it in smaller doses and not by reading the whole thing at one time. Maybe it's a good reference book featuring different lists of books but I can find more informational reading lists online.

I received this copy via the author in exchange for an honest review.

I’m a huge fan of Lindsay Buroker so when she offered me the chance to read this, I jumped at the chance.

It’s part two in her Dragon Blood series and takes place a little time after the first. This one is more like her Emperor’s Edge series with it being heavy on the action and light on the romance, though there is enough to make you happy. It’s more subtle than that of the first, which is what I really like about the authors books.

I grew to like Tolemek/the Deathmaker early on in this, despite him being one of the bad guys, and I think Cas had the same problem. He’s unlike the rest of the pirates she ends up meeting. Tolemek doesn’t like hurting women, unlike some of the others, and over time he softens towards Cas and she gets under his skin. It was all rather sweet reading.

If you’re a fan of the author then you need to read this. If you’ve never read anything by her, why not?

Carter wishes he could go back in time, 10 years, and make a whole lot of changes. At the top of the list is never letting Kenzie go. He was stupid for choosing work over her. If only there was a way to get a do over. McKenzie is in town for a book signing and Carter decides it’s time to try again.

After getting help from a holiday spirit, Carter finds himself back in time with a perfect do over. Unfortunately his new (old) life is less than perfect. He has made most of the same mistakes only this time he is married to Kenzie with 2 small children. Will he finally be able to right the wrongs and win back the love of his life.

Solid 4 star read for a magical story full of hope and promise, I really enjoyed this first read by the author.

Originally, I wasn't ever going to complete this series. The first book was good, until my favorite character bit the dust. HOWEVER, I'm glad I did decide to read these because, well, the character comes back in an intriguing way.
There was much more action in this volume, and I was entertained the entire time. I was kind of sad when it ended so suddenly. I was glad that the author stuck with the epistolary style. I didn't mind the cliffhanger, since I've already got the third book from the library.
