When I watched it a second time, my poor soul, I was slapped in the face with how atrocious I always knew it was. I am a firm believer that most every Dwayne Johnson film is the same. He's always the hero, the rescuer, the buff, tough, don't mess with me type of guy. I don't think I've seen a film with him in it where he's not that person and if you find one, let me know!
Overall, I think this film just shows the lack of diversity in his characters, but also that writing and having a thought out plot are just as important as cast and effects. This film did not lack in effects, but it definitely lacked in pretty much every other department.

For the summer, the girls go their separate ways, Lenaand Carmen visit relatives, Bridget goes to camp and Tibby stays at home to work. Lena being the first person to have the jeans, then Tibby, Carmen and finally Bridget. But is this movie really just about a pair of jeans? No, infact the whole movie could have been done without the jeans as they literally have no impact on the storyline whatsoever, they're just mentioned on occasion.
It is a good movie, although out of the teens stories, I was only interested in 2 of the stories, Tibby and Carmen. This is probably because their story had more drama, whereas Lena and Bridget were just about getting a guy.

A film that takes a very interesting look at a possible future where VR is king. Not going to lie, I would be totally up for this future (-evil corperations, but what are the odds we can get rid of them). It is interesting, since this came out the year before the pandemic, how amazing would it be to meet up with all the people we have not seen in a year, in a virtual cafe, or game together. All we have now is Zoom and Among Us.
I digress, this film had me hooked from the first moment. The characters are compelling, though J suspect they have been "Hollywooded" a little bit, and the story is really good.
You know what I have to do now, don't you?
Read the books. And wouldn't you know it, some very considerate person put them in my Amazon shopping basket....
