When I say Pure Flix's superbly silly Christian ๐๐ฐ๐ฉ๐ฏ ๐๐ช๐ค๐ฌ + Holy Bible mashup with ๐๐ฐ๐ฅ'๐ด ๐๐ฐ๐ต ๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ฅ's Pastor Dave in the Keanu Reeves role and William Baldwin as a twisted desert sex cult leader where a drill goes into some dude's eye at one point - I want you to know that not only is that as righteously (no pun intended) entertaining as that sounds... it's better. Shocking what good acting, minimal preaching, and a budget that costs more than a Happy Meal can do for these things even as there's still no real characterization. Made by people who aren't just trying to cash-in on the success of Wick, but people who clearly love and respect the franchise: this has the delicious wide-angle comically over-the-top fight sequences, bumping screechsynth score, general nasty brutality, portentous monologues, and weaponized masculinity in all their respective glories. Never thought I'd see the day where one of these is executed with actual competency, especially when they aren't afraid to get down and dirty. I haven't seen a film which instantly made me demand cult status in forever - but this one absolutely deserves it.

Siren Sacrificed ( Thief of Hearts book 2)
By C.R. Jane and Mila Young
โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ
What is a siren without her power?
I'm about to find out, and I have no problems embracing the darkness to do so.
I was thrown into a literal hell, and every day feels like it could be my last.
But amid such darkness, I thought I found light with three men who've shown me happiness is possible even in a place like this.
Except, maybe I was too quick to trust and give my heart away.
They say trust takes years to build, seconds to break... and I don't think forever will be long enough to repair what they did to me.
One will sacrifice himself for me. One will shatter my soul. And one will kill me to save me.
This is a weird little series Iโm really enjoying it! It has such a dark undertone that gives me the creeps. This young woman has just had hell and Iโm not sure how much more she can take! This ending is just so sad but I felt peaceful with her. Canโt wait to see what book 3 brings. I really enjoy Mila Youngs books.
Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2190 KP) rated Listen, Do You Want to Know a Secret in Books

This sounded like an intriguing mystery, and I enjoyed the first two, so I was looking forward to reading this one. Sadly, it disappointed. The mystery was very underdeveloped, and the climax just left me with a new question. Instead, the book felt more like a soap opera, focusing on the love lives of the characters, both series regulars and new. While I did like the sub-plots involving returning characters, the other storylines didnโt really interest me. Meanwhile, we also got some lectures on how things were at the time. A little bit would have been appropriate, but it got to be too much. In the end, unless you are a diehard fan of the series, I recommend you skip this one.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2190 KP) rated How the Finch Stole Christmas! (Meg Langslow #22) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
While my teaser doesnโt reveal much of it, there is a mystery, even a murder, in this book. Itโs just best to watch it all unfold for yourself. I did feel the ending was a tad weak, and the pacing was a little uneven early on, but these are minor complaints. I love these characters, and they are in fine form here. We get some laughs as grins along the way as always. Really, itโs hard to not have fun while reading this book.

Once the firefight begins, the SEALS band together, use their wits, cunning and brute force to try and stay alive while waiting for pick up.
I was unaware of this story before seeing the film. You are enthralled and immersed in the characters almost immediately and become quickly invested in their fate. Their heroism is incredible and we should all be proud such remarkable human being exist and that they are sworn to protect the rest of us.
The gunfire action sequences are extremely intense. I'm not usually a jumper during movies, but this one made me quiver from a sudden gunshot or explosion several times. I believe this was the first Mark Wahlberg/director Peter Berg collaboration and it was a good one. Also check out Patriot's Day and Deepwater Horizon if you are in the mood for similar quality.
