Dominique Marie (7 KP) rated Women Who Run with the Wolves: Contacting the Power of the Wild Woman in Books

This book was very interesting. You don't have to buy into the whole Jungian interpretations to enjoy it. Some of it resonated with me, and some of it didn't, but, as a literature major, I found it fascinating, and I loved the myths/stories alone. I gave it four stars because it was too repetitive at times for my liking.

My mom gave me this book, shortly after I lost my beagle baby to cancer. It's a very nice little book for a keepsake. It has a presentation page, and a nice hardcover. The content is simple, but inspiring. I have it four stars because I would have liked it to have some colored pictures, or something throughout the book.

I don't seem to be having much luck with my books this year so far. None of the four books i've read yet have rated higher than 3 stars.
This one started good but then I started to lose interest. It didn't go as I expected but I carried on and it didn't spark anything in me. I won't be continuing the series.

This book had some holes in the plot but not enough to sink it. The characters made up for what was lacking and since this is a character driven story it worked. Brooke did a good job describing anxiety issues and that made Giselle seem more authentic. This gets four stars from me because despite the short fallings it was still a pleasure to read.

When I learned that Michelle Hoover based this historical fiction novel on a true family story about two girls who suddenly disappeared from their rural family home, I knew I had to read it. Find out why I have this book a strong four out of five stars in my review here. https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2016/04/25/the-lost-and-what-they-find/

Four Stars
This book was written really well. The author gave details and meanings to things we wouldn’t know. Cate is a promising therapist but she can’t seem to get over the death of her mother and her new found empathy. I didn’t really understand her character. She wanted help but was the road block that kept getting in the helps way. The story starts off really slow for me. There isn’t much build up or suspense. Cate's character felt lacking. Ben seem out of place in the story. Like he was the leader but not really the leader. I didn’t really understand the story concept. The flow of the story was really good it was very consistent. I give it four stars because it might not be a book I overly enjoyed someone else might love it. The characters were simple. I know I will read book two just because I want to know what happens next.

I tried to distance myself from this story because I knew it would kill me emotionally but I cried quite a bit near the end, and couldn't even finish the last page because I'm starting work in ten minutes and have gone all red eyed with crying.
I only gave it four stars because I like happy endings and we'll...I'm sure you can guess with the tears.
I'm looking forward to seeing the film.

Overall rating 2.5 stars
The Exterminator's Daughter - Meg Cabot - 3 stars.
If this had been a little longer and fleshed out just a little more then it would have gotten four stars but since it wasn't, it's getting three. Adam was quite fun and I loved his water pistol on the two occasions it appeared. If the author ever fancied doing it into a full length story then I'd read it because Mary and Adam make quite a fun team
The Corsage - Lauren Myracle - 2 stars
I didn't particularly enjoy this one until the last five pages but they couldn't save the story. Not to my liking at all.
Madison Avery and the Dim Reaper - Kim Harrison -2.5 stars
Madison was quite annoying when she was arguing that she was still alive and took the amulet from Seth and leading up to that it didn't really grab me and pull me in. I don't think I'll be reading more of this series.
Kiss and Tell - Michele Jaffe - 3 stars
I enjoyed this once we got past the initial back-info overload. Once Sibby arrived and was being her teenager-y annoying self and winding up our super-powered Miranda i got into the story. The prom took a while to arrive but she had an almost kiss with her crush before things went to hell. And then we get a little twist at the end before she ends up getting a date with her crush. If it was a full length story then i would read it.
Hell on Earth - Stephanie Meyer - 2 stars
I had no idea what was going on in this for a long time and then when I figured it out I wasn't into the plot. Not for me.

I never seem to do things in the right order. This is my third Women's Murderer Club book. I have already read 5 and 6. I gave the book three stars because I didn't like the way it ended.
Four women from four different sides of the law decide to put their collective brains together to solve murder cases. Lindsay the homicide detective, Claire the medical examiner, Jill the assistant district attorney, and Cindy the crime reporter.
When three couples turn up dead after their wedding nights, these ladies work together to find the killer. When they find out that the suspect is someone famous, will Lindsay be able to find enough evidence for an arrest, or will the guilty get away?
