This book turned out quite nice. It's almost inspirational for the bigger girl (which I am). How Gen overcame all the struggles she'd faced in her life. I've been feeling all of her highs and lows with her because I think she's going through something we all face but hers has been harder with her finding it hard to deal with the death of her mother.
I could tell that there were feelings of more than friendship between Grant and Gen, and he was a really great friend to her, as were the rest of the group, even Andrew when we finally got to know him.
I also liked Evelyn, she tried her best to make Gen feel like part of the family after Gen's dad married her and she grew on me a lot throughout the story.
Admittedly I was only going to give it four stars but I think the amount of times I cried or nearly did means it got to me, so I bumped it up half a star.

In this, the 10th volume of the Dresden files, Jim Butcher brings the Knights of the Cross (particularly Michael Carpenter) - first introduced in Grave Peril, and their other-worldly foe, the Order of the Denarians - first introduced in Death Masks - back to the fore, via a favour owed to Mab, Queen of the Winter Court of faerie (first introduced in Summer Knight)
I think it's fair to say that one of the defining characteristics of this novel is the notion of family, and of friendship: when does one stop, and the other start? As it relies on previous events and (some) knowledge of the characters involved, this isn't really a good jumping-on point for anybody new to the series. For those who have read the previous, I actually felt this was one of the weaker novels: I just couldn't really get into this one as much as some of the others (but, without saying more, also think it will be interesting to see how Michael's role in the series progresses ...).

The protagonist of this book is Isla, she has one arm and is the best friends with Hailey. Isla really wants a kitten, but because of her two little sisters, her mom doesn’t really want to get one. So Isla gets pretty jealous when Hailey gets a second cat in her house. However, the kitten is not happy at all in the new home… I really loved that the author added kitten’s perspective to this book as well. I think children need to be taught that animals have feelings too and they don’t like to be mistreated or chased around.
It is a pretty short book, and the narrative is quite fast-paced but educational and enjoyable. The topics discussed were friendship, and it’s ups and downs, jealousy, territorial issues between cats and many more. The illustrations are very cute, and I really liked them. The chapters have a decent length, and it didn’t leave me bored. I really liked the ending of the book, even though it was predictable.

Laurel & Hardy were one of the world's greatest comedy duos to ever step, or stumble, rumble, and dance rather, in front of audiences. I'll be honest, I've never really watched a lot of their work, I was always more of an Abbott and Costello guy myself, but you don't have to know or love their work to love this movie. Stan & Ollie gives a beautiful look into the real lives of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy at the end of their career. Their friendship and career, often like the hats on their heads, had its ups and downs, but they had a true chemistry and bond that could not be broken; whether their wives liked it or not. Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly each give one of their best performances to date. And a huge tip of the hat to the special effects, makeup, and costuming department of this film. What are you waiting for? Don't make me give you a swift kick to the butt to dance away and add this to your watch list.

2 young adults meet in a cancer support group, only problem is, skye is the only one out of them both with terminal cancer. In fact Calvin doesn't have cancer at all, or any disease for that matter, he is just a hyperchondriac. Naturally in true movie form Skye does not know about this and the 2 hit it off. Calvin agrees to help Skye with her 'to die list', her own version of a bucket list.
I felt the character of Izzy (Calvin's s crush) was out of place, there was only supposed to be a 3 year age gap but she looks so much older than him, making their dating scenes a very weird viewing in fact it would have been better without their dating scenes.
I did enjoy watching Skye and Calvin's friendship develop though, it was not often someone with such a strong personality would become best friends with someone who was the complete opposite. It also made a change from 2 main characters falling in love.

Adventurous album taking on the uplifting but also brutality of reality and it's every day themes.
A new (different) album from Coldplay, which is definitely revealing their experimentation. The band take on heavy themes of love, war, racism, faith, gun control, friendship, climate change, police brutality and other every day themes in life. It is a double album consisting of 'Sunrise' and 'Sunset', which reveals the difference between the every day highs and lows of the above mentioned themes.
The opening of 'Sunrise' is set beautifully with string arrangements, with the lead violinist doing an excellent job of playing uplifting but also emotional tones to set the mood for the themes. Good versus bad, happy versus sad.
Coldplay never venture far from meeting with Eastern and Western sounds to encourage the acceptance of different religions and ethnicities.
'Sunset' is accompanied with loungey rhythm and blues tones which compliment the themes and meaningful lyrics.
However I can't help but note that I feel some depth is missing to convey their messages.
