Dean (6927 KP) rated Long Shot (2019) in Movies
May 10, 2019 (Updated Nov 16, 2020)
Good feel good Rom-Com
I had heard good reviews for this but was a little wary at the run time, along with Seth Rogen being a bit hit and miss. Thankfully this was quite a feel good funny Rom-Com. It doesn't feel like it's trying too hard for jokes. The chemistry between Theron and Rogen really makes the difference.

Peter G. (247 KP) rated Paul (2011) in Movies
Jun 5, 2019
A conspiracy theorist and comic book geeks wet dream of a movie, not only bags of fun to spot the nods and winks but at times laugh out loud funny as Seth Rogan's voice is somehow ideal for Paul and with Frost & Pegg as co stars this really should have been the triple as part of the Cornetto trilogy over 'The Worlds End' by a country mile.

Kelsey Walesch (0 KP) rated Yes Please in Books

This book is witty, funny, sad, entertaining, and I truly loved every page. I have always loved Amy Poehler, but this book brought so many things about her to light that made me love her even more. She gives advice, she tells embarrassing stories, and she allows the reader to relate to her on personal levels. One of my favorite books I’ve ever read.

Dean (6927 KP) rated Horrible Bosses (2011) in Movies
Feb 10, 2018
A very good adult comedy. I think it works so well as you have good actors in the smaller roles who don't normally do comedy. Kevin Spacey and Jamie Foxx are both great and good to see more of Jennifer Aniston doing something different to the nice girl next door Rom-com's. Good chemistry between the 3 lead charaters as well. It's very funny!

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2357 KP) rated Alcatraz Versus the Knights of Crystallia (Alcatraz, #3) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Alcatraz has returned home. However, he finds that the librarians have arrived claiming they want peace. What are they really up to? Can Alcatraz stop them? As always the book was funny with great characters, however I felt the pace was a little slow, especially in the middle.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2357 KP) rated Killing Bridezilla (A Jaine Austen Mystery, #7) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Jaine reluctantly agrees to write the wedding vows for the ultimate bridezilla. But when the Bride dies as the ceremony begins, Jaine begins digging to find out who killed her client. This is my favorite in the series. The mystery is great and it is so funny.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2357 KP) rated The Spellman Files (The Spellmans, #1) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
The Spellmans are a family of PIs. That just means they spy on each other as much as their clients. This is an odd little book. Very funny and quirky. Not really a mystery as much as a family study. Worth reading for something different.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2357 KP) rated $10,000 in Small, Unmarked Puzzles (Puzzle Lady #13) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Cora is asked to make the drop for a blackmail payment. But instead of an empty dumpster, she finds a dead body seconds before the police show up. As always the story is very funny, but it also had the usual too quick wrap up.

Dean (6927 KP) rated One Hour Photo (2002) in Movies
Feb 21, 2018 (Updated Feb 21, 2018)
Creepy Thriller
A good thriller with a great performance by Robin Williams showing he can do more than funny voices! He plays the role of a strange, creepy photo developer who makes up for his lack of family and friends by thinking of himself as an uncle to a family whose photos he develops. Quite a strange film with a bit of a twist.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2357 KP) rated To the Manor Dead (Janet's Planet Mystery #1) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
The plot was okay, but almost all the characters made my skin crawl. The main character was only okay. The family of suspects were actually rather creepy. I have a feeling the author was going for funny, but it missed the mark for me.
