Sarah (7800 KP) rated Why Him? (2016) in Movies

As bad as expected
I'll be honest, this really isn't my kind of comedy so I went into this expecting not to like it and that is precisely how it turned out.
For a comedy, I didn't really think it was funny at all. I may have tittered once or twice but that was about it, it was just ridiculously stupid. What was most surprising though was that a large part of the film was pretty sentimental, and that didn't really fit either.

Betty White is 96!
Sometimes you are just in the mood for a crocodiles eating people movie and not that stupid Sharknado crap. This movie actually has a great cast including Bridget Fonda, Bill Pullman and Oliver Platt and has some genuine funny/scary moments.
You could do a lot worse in this genre with other lesser films.
I quite enjoy this one and HAPPY 96TH BIRTHDAY TO BETTY WHITE!

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2357 KP) rated Shoes To Die For (A Jaine Austen Mystery, #4) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Jaine's neighbor Lance has decided it's time for her to have a makeover. It doesn't land her any new clothes, but it does land her a job writing for one of the boutiques they visit. Only then the owner is killed with a high heel. The result is another funny mystery with wild characters you can't help but like.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2357 KP) rated The Pigeon Needs a Bath! in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Once again, Pigeon is facing something he doesn't want to do. But after a fun day outside, he really does need a bath. Can you convince him to take one?
These picture books are always funny and charming, and this is certainly no exception. You'll love the end result, too. (Heck, I think it would make a great follow up.)

Lindsay (1760 KP) rated Zap! I'm A Mind Reader in Books
Feb 15, 2018
This is a funny book. It tell you a story about how Zack became Mind Reader. He was doing an experiment in science class. While he was doing the experiment he did something you should not do when your hands are wet. I do not want to give away how and what happens to him.
This teaches you about science a bit and it also teaches you that you should not do. It is an educational and great for Children and young readers.

All of the crew (1 more)
Always funny
Always putstanding
The giant beastcast is a weekly podcast (out every friday) that talk about video games mainly. They go down some rabbit holes but it's always entertaining listening to whatever they talk about. They all work at giantbomb.com (except for one who works at cnet). Every member of the podcast definitely has their own personality and they all mesh well and add a lot to the podcast. Highly recommend for a good listen every week.

I couldn’t really get into this book, but I’ll readily admit that memoirs and biographies are not my usual reading fare. I had listened to another autobiographical audiobook just before this one and thought I’d enjoy this one just as much, but no luck.
Ther wer parts of this book that were funny (expected) and parts that were insightful (pleasantly surprising), but a lot that was just meh.
It would be good reading for anyone interested in the improve scene.

Bookapotamus (289 KP) rated I Must Say: My Life as a Humble Comedy Legend in Books

I was so happy to read Martin Shorts story. But his story was definitely not as happy as I assumed it was. Why are comedians always so troubled??
Not that this makes it a depressing read, it's extremely interesting, very funny at times, and I learned a lot about Martin and Hollywood as well!
So glad to still have great comedic minds like Mr. Short alive and well and making us laugh. A very interesting bio well worth the read.

Fun comedy with a great cast
I saw this movie today at the cinema, I had seen a trailer for it a few months ago and to be honest even though the trailer was funny I forgot about it. My partner noticed it was out now so we went. I wasn't disappointed, from the beginning of the film I found myself laughing. I thought the cast were really strong and they did bounce off each other well. I would really recommend.

We got a bit better here - I even took a photo of one of the pages because it was SO insanely true to my life it's not even funny. I think Rin is again growing up a bit too fast - even though she's truly not - her capacity for things is totally above her years - I don't mind her now caregiver at all but I do think he's a giant child - again, it's interesting to see what is inside their heads
