Cranky Dad UK (11 KP) rated The Incredibles 2 (2018) in Movies
Jul 17, 2018 (Updated Jul 17, 2018)
Incredibly good fun.
Incredibles 2 is a fast paced, funny and visually jaw dropping experience.
The story carries on immediately after the first one finishes and deals with the struggle of parenthood, in an intelligent and relatable way.
All the laughs and stunning action sequences are there as hoped for and boy do the set pieces look amazing.
It's a shame we have had to wait so long for this sequel but when you watch it, it feels like the super family have never been away.
A superbly entertaining sequel.

Eleanor is my hero

Oh man, oh man.
This book is unbelievably amazing.
*spoilers*
I love Eleanor and how the book was split into her good days, bad days and finally her better days.
Being someone who has been in the depressive state as Eleanor had been I could relate so deeply I cried. She didn't realise how important and loved she was to people around her.
She got help, so incrediblely brave.
Finding out Mummy was all in her head hit me like a tonne of bricks.
Her views made me laugh and I love the Britishness of everything.
And the end was incredible!

Farce (1 more)
Nazis loose
To watch or not to watch
If you currently have an HBO subscription then you need to add this to your watch list right away. It's not one of Mel Brooks bigger title films, but it should be as it's just as witty and funny. A remake of a 1940s film, it stays true to the classic with a touch of Brooks. A polish theater troupe in Warsaw use their love of the stage to fool the nazis and escape the ghetto. It's a farce in the truest form, and when this movie makes you laugh, you will be rolling.

Funny but doesn’t rely on it (1 more)
Captivating
Loved the humour!
I’ve heard a lot of people say it relies on humour too much or takes too long to show venom but I actually think that for the first Venom movie of at least 3 that it worked really well.
The humour made the story flow with ease rather than it dragging, and I couldn’t stop laughing at the random outbursts Venom has about food.
I unfortunately haven’t read all of the comics but I can’t wait to see where the story goes, the mixture of dark humour and action makes for a really compelling series of films.

Dean (6927 KP) rated Adventureland (2009) in Movies
Nov 7, 2018
I saw this not knowing too much about it. I was expecting more of a comedy, it has it's moments. However it's more of a coming of age, teen drama. That said it is a very good character driven film and uniquely interesting in a funny kinda way. It tells the story of one guys summer working a Adventureland, a rundown old theme park. There he encounters a wide range of misfits who he becomes friends with. A good film, well directed and the actors make it an entertaining watch, not to mention a time trip to the '80s. Cool soundtrack as well from that era.

A hilarious mockumentary
This is by far one of the funniest mockumentaries I’ve ever seen. It’s a hilarious take on vampires, following them around their daily lives in the run up to the Unholy Masquerade, it has some cracking one liners and truly funny scenes. Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement are fantastic, and the rest of the cast too play their roles perfectly. The rivalry between the vampires and the werewolves is a particular highlight. The dialogue is great and the entire film looks fabulous too. I’ve watched this again for the first time in years, and I haven’t laughed this much in a long time.

Don't waste your time watching
I used my child free evening to watch this crap. I was so so so disappointed. I'd seen the trailers, I was so into it. Until approx 17 mins in when I guessed most of the bloody fil.lm. It was so predictable and laughable. Not haha that's so funny but haha oh god why did I waste my money on this. The story line is so rubbish I can't even express it. I don't know who came up with this crap but I'll be making sure I don't watch any more crap

David McK (3562 KP) rated Hammered (The Iron Druid Chronicles, #3) in Books
Jan 28, 2019
Third entry in Kevin Hearne's 'Iron Druid' series which, I felt, is a strong contender in being the best of them so far.
As the third novel, however, this is one that you would need to read the earlier entries first, as it ties up loose plot points from the first two stories and, in particular, follows on from the previous ('Hexed'), in which Atticus agreed to help the vampire Leif as well as the werewolf Gunnar to kill Thor, the Norse God of Thunder (yes, that Thor).
Fast moving, laugh out loud funny in parts and with some solid action scenes, I was mightily impressed by this entry.

I quite liked it.
I really enjoyed this movie, Bumblebee is just is lovable self and i like how theres abit of a background story on him before Whitwicky. I may be a bit biased because i adore bumblebee.. it had some very funny moments and just made you fall in love with the adorable Autobot all over again.. Now im not a Cena fan (liked him in cockblockers) but i dont think he added anything to this movie his acting made my eyes roll and not in a good way. If you're a fan of transformers you will really enjoy this prequel

AT (1676 KP) rated The Promised Neverland: Volume 1 in Books
Dec 21, 2018
I didn't know anything about this series before I borrowed the first book from the library. I thought it was probably going to be pretty juvenile, and that I'd return it right away. However, I'm pleasantly surprised. While it is about children, the book is rated for older teens. It's funny, innocent, and cute, and then it quickly starts going in different directions that make it a bit dark, frustrating, a little creepy. The only real negative opinion that I have about it is that it seems to have a bit of a repetitive nature towards this volume's end. I'm looking forward to moving onto book two, though!
