Just Go with It (2011)
2011 | Comedy, Romance
I did not expect to like this film. Especially with how sketchy Adam Sandler's track record is. But I really enjoyed it. I think what made it so good was Jennifer Aniston. I also loved young Bailee Madison and Griffin Gluck. They are both succeeding in their own rights now and it's fun to see them younger and still talented and funny and just overall great.

I liked the slow burn of the film. Even though it was predictable and you knew what was going to happen, it was still enjoyable and a feel-good and definitely one I think I'll end up watching again.

"She’s brilliant beyond brilliant. I was reading this at this black hair salon while I was getting my braids done so I felt like the best of all of America. Ephron has a way with language and jokes. She’s very much a writer who uses her personal life to fuel her work. It’s really funny. Women who are older, people ignore their contributions, but people always craved her writing and her take on the world, and it’s a testament to her skills as a writer, and how she could get you into her world and make you want to be a part of it and keep reading."

"One of the first ones on my list would have to be Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho, just because I really look up to Alfred Hitchcock and what he did as a director. What’s so funny is that I never really knew the big reveal. After all these years, I’d never known the reveal. So when I saw it, I was genuinely shocked and freaked out by what I just saw. So it was really fun to be able to not have that kind of secret be revealed to me before and let me be surprised. It was a really great film and I really enjoyed it."

Being John Malkovich (1999)
1999 | Comedy, Drama, Sci-Fi

"Being John Malkovich mashes different genres and spins everything on its head. Spike Jonze tends to do that — he’s got his own unique take on the world and I love it. He’s probably the number one director that I would love to work with. Charlie Kaufman is one of my favorite writers too. John Cusack is so good in that movie — just so sad but yet so funny — and Cameron Diaz killed it in that role too. That’s my favorite of hers. The fact that Malkovich even agreed to do the movie is such a fun element within itself. It works on many levels."

Album Favorite

"I loved listening to comedy albums when I was growing up. This one was produced by George Martin. Sellers used to put on all these accents and do them perfectly. On 'Suddenly It's Folk Song' it's him playing a German anthropologist. [Proceeds to recount entire section of the album verbatim, accents and all] It's just a great record. I loved all those black and white caper movies. The talent on Sellers was just amazing. He was so influential on the Bonzos and the Python people. I picked up on this as a teenager and I know every word of it now. It's perfect. It's extraordinary how funny he is."
