HLD (99 KP) rated 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown in TV
Aug 30, 2018
Jimmy Carr is funny but not as overly offensive as his stand up (3 more)
Most of the time the panelists can make you laugh without resorting to offensive mundane jokes
The Countdown aspect is a lot of fun to watch
Jon Richardson just rolls with the punches
Bloody Hilarious
I don't really know what to compare the show to.
It's a comedy show that takes on the aspects of the much beloved, but quite boring show 'Countdown'.
Everything about it works, in my opinion. It's light-hearted, there are various guests - many make multiple appearances, and the laughs are constant!
Humour is subjective, yes. But, I urge anyone to give it a go, you might just love it.

Not as good as the book
It was a good representation of the book, however it kind of droned on and was slow paced.
The book involved a lot more in-depth description of Elio and his feelings towards Oliver even though it was also quite slow paced. The depth of how the book was written though made up for it, as it kept you wanting to read it more.
I would most likely watch the film again as it is still quite good and is a great coming of age movie. Furthermore, there were some funny moments within the movie.
Would recommend the movie, however I think that the book is definitely worth reading as it portrays it a lot better

Seen this too many times
I used to watch this movie a lot when I was in middle school.
Kind of a Star Wars/Logan's Run ripoff where an enslaved civilization lives underground doing the bidding of the evil Zygon never questioning if there is a world above or where they fit in the universe. The discovery of a mysterious sword hilt send Orin on an outer space adventure he would never forget.
It was always funny hearing animated characters says "damn" and "shit" when I was younger. Not a big deal now.
Originally released in 3D, you can tell when you watch, but it is still an entertaining animated thrill ride adventure.

Character development (2 more)
Plot
Brilliant writing
One of the best zombie books I've read and the start on an epic series
Contains spoilers, click to show
Patient Zero is the first book in Jonathan Maberry's Joe Ledger series. Jonathan Maberry is a phenomenal writer, in this series he introduces us to the DMS (Department of Military Sciences) a shadow government agency formed to respond to advanced terrorist threats such as bioterrorism, alien technology etc..
In this book we meet an array of characters such as Mr Church, Aunt Sally, Top and Bunny when Joe is recruited by Mr Church to help deal with the potential release of a zombie virus. This book is thrilling, funny, and keeps the reader itching for more.
I give this book 10/10.

David McK (3562 KP) rated Me Too (The Bandy Papers, #5) in Books

Fifth entry in [a:Donald Jack|442728|Donald Jack|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/u_50x66-632230dc9882b4352d753eedf9396530.png]'s 'Bandy Papers', this is set back in Bandy's home country of Canada, prohibition era (so between World War 1 and World War 2), and sees the titular hero(?) getting involved in rum-running to the States before running for (and winning a seat in) parliament.
While perhaps not as consistently funny as the earlier entries in the series (maybe because of the subject matter of Candian politics? Maybe because that's foreign (forgive the pun) to us Europeans?), this still has its moments where it near made me laugh out loud - as such, this perhaps not the best choice to read when you're on a bus packed full of people!

Elli H Burton (1288 KP) rated The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010) in Movies

That's it guys, getting better.
I don't feel the acting is as forced as it is in new moon and there are some funny moments that seem more natural than with previous attempts with humour (with Jacob it's still stupid but I guess you have to think of him as a 16/17 year old boy which he is supposed to be).
The fighting bits in it are cool especially since it's the first real action you see in the saga.
Watching it now, besties Edward and Jacob are having a cosy chat in a tent so I best go and carry on watching!! #teamedward #manimsad

A master storyteller
Janice Galloway knows how to tell a story and this one (memoir) delivers like a skelp on the heid when you wurnie expectin it. A follow up to This is Not About Me,' (which I loved) , this book didn't disappoint. From starting high school to discovering a love for music and Latin, all while avoiding her rocket of a sister, Janice Galloway doesn't skip a beat. From boys, love, friendship, sex and learning how to live in this world, you'll find it all. Honest, cringeworthy, sad and funny and all written ever so poetically, All Made Up delivers.

Scarface vs The Genie

Insomnia- was christopher nolan's threed film that he directed. Insomnia has robin williams as the bad guy. Usually he plays the funny roles, but in this he is a serious twisted bad guy and i loved it. It was a different role for him and he did a excelllent job.
Insomnia is actually a remake of the same name. The oringal came out in 1997, it was a foreign langauge film and started Stellan Skarsgard.
Inaomnia- has mystery, suspense, drama, thrills, chills and horror.
I love this film, its one of my all time favorite movies and its also in my top ten best movies of all time.
Insomnia is a must see film, also watch the oringal.

The puppets are well integrated into the live action (2 more)
Bad taste humour at times
It is funny
The Muppets is definately isn't....
Only watched based on the trailer on Netflix and have to say I wasn't disappointed... Don't expect an academy award winning film and you won't be upset.
The puppets fit in with the live actors and the production works well. The humour is often in bad taste but not offensive unless you are one of those people who take offense just for the sake of it...
It was an enjoyable way to pass the time and I did find myself laughing out loud even though I was on my own while watching it and that doesn't happen often...

Almost
One if those frustrating movies that us almost very special but doesn't quite get there. Does it want to be a gross out comedy, a teen coming of age or an indie Anericana deep thinking poignant drama. It tries to be all three and loses some of it's identity.
I think although it was trying to be mature it's audience is the late teens. I should have loved this film, I normally love this genre but my attention kept wandering. Everytime it tried to be poignant or sentimental it suddenly had to good out not allowing it's true meaning to come through. It could have been so much better but just failed to hit the mark.
