I found the game unsatisfying (0 more)
Carcassonne is a modern board gaming classic, but one which did not grab me or my gaming group. I went all in by buying a Big Box with multiple expansions, but the variety in the game just wasn't enough for me to enjoy this and see it as anything but a linear tile placement game that subjected me to spend my time putting down tiles and scoring spaces. However, I appreciate my view is in the minority. If you are on the fence about buying this game, I suggest you try before you buy, so you don't end up spending too much and potentially not enjoying this game, like me.

Beautiful and colorful levels.
Variety of adversaries.
A little too short. (0 more)
This game is an absolute must play for anyone who even calls themselves a casual gamer. Without Super Mario Bros it's entirely possible gaming as we know it today might not exist. This is such an influential piece of entertainment history. The game has 8 vibrant and colorful levels divided into 4 sections each. Each level is unique in one way or another and presents the player with it's own unique challenges. There are plenty of hidden treasures to discover and while the game is challenging, it never feels impossible. We all owe so much love and respect to the original.

It’s difficult to spend time in the board gaming hobby and not hear the name “Reiner Knizia.” His name is a staple in the industry, and depending on your gaming sensibilities, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. For my birthday, my sister gave me one of Knizia’s flagship games, Ra. And while for me Knizia’s fame is a very good thing, not everyone agrees with me (namely, @Futurewolfie). Read on for an explanation of the game and our review. Spoiler alert: lots of disagreement ahead.

A fantastic read.
Set in a futuristic world were VR is the biggest part of their everyday lives, many people play in the Oasis. The Oasis is a VR game where anyone can be anyone. Gamers are attempting to beat the game to win the prize money that has been left by the creator and to inherit the game itself.
I really enjoyed this concept and the fact that the Oasis challenges are the classic games like Pac man, games I have enjoyed and can relate to.
The best aspect of this book is, even though it's set in a world nothing like ours, we can relate to the characters and their enjoyment with tech and gaming and escaping reality as we do when gaming or reading.

Yes, Limbo channels the poems of our inner teenagers about being misunderstood and lonely, but it does so bravely and beautifully, and it is a better game for it; a game that should not be missed.

Ok, thanks for starting this Orb @The Marinated Meeple!

Need a bit of advice actually coz I’m looking for a board game that can be played with a 7 yr old for 2 players.

He loves gaming but so far we’ve only played family boardames you know the usual suspects.

Any recommendations from anybody? 👍

We have found that Cover Your Assets is a great game for younger kids, the majority of grandpa beck games are great for first time players

I play zombies without using the cards for me and my stepdaughter, my youngest daughter has just started playing too and she is 4.

I also have flashpoint fire rescue and they both really enjoy that

Gameplay does not require lightning reflexes, lucky for me. The backstory is interesting and game developers are always adding fun new events.

A guild that matches your playing style can make or break gaming experience. I am as fond of my guild friends as I am some of my family.

Every choice, every death and every shot feels like it counts in XCOM 2 and it is this feeling of real consequence that makes for a truly remarkable strategy game - one that goes beyond its clever design decisions
