Song Obsession of the Day: God is a Woman - Ariana Grande

I know this is super controversial, but um I love this and the message it sends is gorgeous and uggh fight me in the comments section if you want idgaf. Also, probably just a little nsfw

A very enjoyable read.
This book is definitely feisty and fun.
Another good strong woman character.
This is book 1 of a trilogy so the story is not completed. To know what happens to the relationship between the Rock God and the less than impressed Housekeeper you need to read book 2. It leaves you wanting more – in a good way.

This movie is amazing. It's shot beautifully, the characters are touching and real. It has hidden meaning in it. I think it should be a requirement for humanity. (0 more)

It’s 1914. American women are demanding the vote. And the first flames of the Great War are

igniting Europe. But a battle of a different sort rages in Oklahoma. The thermometer registers one hundred six degrees, an out-of-the-ordinary occurrence even for the twenty-eighth day of July. But this is no ordinary day. The jury has reached a verdict. Lily fidgets in the old church pew. Her name has clotted into a by-word. Her blood is tainted. Can she right the wrongs? Or will her past forever define her? She eyes the judge. And the courtroom holds its breath.

My thoughts : This is an interesting story of a young woman struggling with her past. Her.
father beat  her and now she is afraid for her brother.  Lilly heads to Texas where a job awaits her, but God has other plans.

This is a good story.  I like the mystery of the sea chest and reading the ancient journal Lilly`s mother left her.

What I saw in this story was a young woman find I ng her way in the world, and finding God.  A story of love, and letting go of the past.

Mercedes Benz by Janis Joplin

Track

"My Mum played me Janis Joplin for the first time one night when I was 14 or 15 and I was just ‘This is a woman?! Oh my god! What?! I didn’t know that a woman could sound like this!’ That was quite life changing and it totally changed my perception of what you had to be as a female singer. It was such a breath of fresh air, because I’d listened to so much pop and this was my first experience of a woman singing in a completely different way. It broke boundaries for me and it opened different doors, because I was suddenly ‘Oh, you don’t have to just be this one thing.’ “I guess that ‘Mercedes Benz’ was more of a ditty and it wasn’t the perfectly constructed song. I think it’s just really playful; music is really playful and singing can just be funny and downplayed, but this song is also raw, it’s so fucking raw and gritty."

In this deeply personal account of her first year as a missionary, Elisabeth Elliot shares the challenges she faced as she worked in the jungles of Ecuador to bring the Word of God to a people virtually untouched by the outside world. With fascinating detail, she captures the stark realities of life in the jungle, the difficulties she encountered while developing a written language for the tribe, and her confusion when God didn't "cooperate" with her efforts to accomplish what she believed was His will.

More than just a memoir, Made for the Journey is a beautifully crafted and deeply personal reflection on the important questions of life and a remarkable testimony to authentic Christian obedience to an unfathomable God.

My Thoughts: First written in 2004 as "These Strange Ashes"; this book give s the account of Elizabeth Elliot's first year as a missionary. Well written and very insightful, it gives the reader a closer glimpse of a woman who devoted her life to missions and serving God.

This is an enjoyable read and gives a comprehensive look at what a missionary can face in a foreign country.

It's a book of encouragement to those who are thinking or looking into following God's call to taking His word out into the world.

This is a book that all will enjoy
