Read in one sitting

This was recommended through Goodreads based on my other reads and since it was a freebie, I thought, why not? And downloaded it. And then read it in one sitting. I was completely pulled in from the beginning and this thing she has going with Corrigan has definitely got me intrigued.

I'm even going to buy book 2 and start it right now, even if it has gone 1am. Who needs sleep?

BLURB:

Eli Mason. Powerful CEO and former SEAL. Protector. Leader. Sexy as hell.
A man who has learned the hard way to hide his wounds.
And the man I’ve been hired to destroy.

As a cognitive psychologist, I evaluate high power executives. Help bring bullies to their knees. So when the Board of Directors for Mason Enterprises begs for my help with Eli Mason, I can’t say no.

Eli Mason is exactly who I expect him to be. Wealthy, self-centered, powerful, and not the least bit inclined to cooperate. He is also gorgeous enough to make my head spin.
Yet when a predator sets his sights on me, Eli steps up to keep me safe. To trust me.
Except Eli Mason doesn’t know what I was truly hired to do.

★★★★★Amazon top-hundred author Alex Lidell delivers a page-turning enemy-to-lovers stand-alone romance, with a whip-smart heroine, a powerful Navy SEAL, and heart-wrenching trauma that only love can heal.

Enemy Contact is part of the Trident Rescue series, which follows a group of Navy SEALs who return home to Denton Valley, Colorado, and found a search and rescue outfit called Trident Rescue. The stories feature former-military alpha heroes, steamy intimacy, and personal trauma that only love can heal.

Objectively, I feel the book deserves 4 stars, but gr ratings are supposed to be based on your enjoyment, which was a 1 or 2 for me.

I’ve read other books featuring mental illness, the aftermath of atomic bombs, self harm, abuse. I don’t know why I felt so repulsed by this one, but I did. It isn’t a bad book-it’s very good actually, but I hated it.

This was an ARC I received in a giveaway. (Not via goodreads)

From Goodreads: Is it just me, or did this story go way too fast? I felt like I didn't get to know the characters at all, and the book was a little over 200 pages. At every point in the story, it was like I couldn't figure out how we got from Point A to Point B. How did I end up finishing this? I would've put this down in a heartbeat, but I didn't. I guess that's my bad luck.

My favourite reading app
I mostly use Goodreads for my own benefit, just to keep track of books I have read.
I also love being in competition with myself, so every year I set myself a reading challenge and see if I can beat the previous year.
I also love the fact that I can create my own book shelves and organise my books how I like.

I use the goodread app regularly so that I can see my reading progress of the year and see the ratings of the books I want to read. Very easy to use and you can follow friends and authors to keep up to date with releases etc. The only thing I don't like with goodreads app is that you couldn't see the giveaways that were taking place, but now they are mainly US only giveaways.
