I've had this on my to-be-read shelf for a long time on Goodreads before I saw it on NetGalley so I kinda jumped at the chance to review it. Maybe I had high expectations or something but I just couldn't really get into it. The writing style was hard for me to gel with and I just found myself getting a bit bored with the storyline.

Then there was the fact that something happened in Naomi's life--something major--and we didn't actually find out about it until after, which confused me a bit as I had no idea what the family was so upset about, and therefore I had no feelings about it.

This just wasn't up my street at all but that doesn't mean it was bad. If you like the sound of it, then try it.

For me, this book could easily have been 150 plus pages shorter than it was. The fact the climax to the story happens almost 100 pages (I'm guessing here as I listened to the audio version, so estimating based on percentage and Goodreads page count) before the actual end is testimony to that. It just felt like it needed more editing. Sadly, for me this made it the weakest of the series, as I ended up getting lost as to my position in the plot, abs felt the characters got diluted due to the size of the plot. For me, the strength of the series were the characters and the dynamics between them, but they got shifted around so much that all of that was lost. It's a shame, because it really should have ended on a high!

I won an ARC of this book from Goodreads. It is the story of Sara a 30 something adoptee who is getting married. Right off the bat she wants to look for her birth parents before her wedding. She finds her mom & eventually her dad. That's about all I can way without giving away the story.
It is told in a series of sessions as Sara is speaking to her therapist about what is going on in her life. It was an interesting perspecitve on things, though you never really hear any advice or thoughts from the therapist.
The ending was the hest part....didn't see it coming at all. The beginning was rather ho-hum, but as the story progresses you become sucked into the drama.
It did make me want to read Stevens's debut novel though. I really enjoy her writing style & well developed characters.

I won a copy of this book on Goodreads. I was very much anticpating its arrival and I am pleased to say that I was not disappointed!
If you are not afraid of being out in the woodsat night, you will be after you read this book! Hell you may even be scared of forests in the daylight too. The characters throughoutbthe book are weel developed. While there were a few "typical" characters many of them were shown to have quirks or traits thatnare not typical of a suspense novel.
The plot was well paced. The suspense factor was always high...I found myself constantly wondering who would be next. Yet at the same time it wasn't too over the top. The story contained enough events that were reality based that you even found yourself convinced that the fantastical elements were just as likely to be real.
