When I got this as a freebie from All Romance Ebooks back in December 2012, I had no idea it was the second book in a series or that it was even in a series. It was only later when I joined Goodreads that I realised.

Well the first 40% or so when we were seeing scenes from the first book, Chase in Shadows, I realised how much of a heart-breaking story it was--and that wasn't even reading it first hand. I may have to read it, and have a box of tissues at the ready.

But back to Dex in Blue...can I say how much I liked both Dex and Kane AKA David and Carlos! Both are really great guys who've had tough lives, dealing with family issues and relationships. Both look out for their friends and are a really great couple. They compliment each other nicely.

I liked their relationship progression but I have to admit I wanted to smack Kane a few times. He said some stupid things which pained Dex (and me!) and though he is a really sweet guy, at the beginning, he had no idea! Ugh!

I'm looking forward to reading more books by Amy Lane.

Alexis Cross is trying hard to escape her father and his influence, but in a city like Detroit, there’s no way to avoid either.

Hero. Honourable Thief. Lovable Rogue. Scoundrel. Blackguard.

Everyone’s heard of Robin Hood and his band of Merry Men, with big, bad Sheriff of Nottingham and evil Prince John trying their best to thwart Robin at every turn. But what if things were different to what you’ve been told? What if Robin wasn’t as altruistic as history portrayed?

In the late spring of 1198, the hamlet of Girton is razed to the ground. Newly married eighteen-year-old Will Scathlock and sixteen-year-old Alana move to the larger village of Blidworth to start their lives anew. In his new job as a forester for the Royal Palace of Clipstone, known to the locals as King’s Houses, Will hears tales of a good thief, stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. But in her role as Seamstress for the Manor House, Alana hears a different story.

Find out what it was like for the peasant folk Robin was supposed to be helping, before his well-known adventures in Nottingham. Meet Alana Dale and read her story of what it was really like, and how it all began.

@Night Reader Reviews - it was my fault! Time has definitely run away with me on this one. Oh, well. If ever you have the time and fancy giving any of mine a chance, please just let me know! Have a great week. 😁

Just when you think you've got it figured out, PLOT TWIST! (0 more)
Thriller That Will Keep You Guessing
Don't you love a good ol' fashioned "Who's the real bad guy" thriller? Well, in this case, it's rather "who is the bad woman?" because even though Amber, our first narrator, would like you to think she's the alpha-female who deserves what everyone else has, there are more sinister plans going on in the minds of the other characters.

The first Mrs. Parrish, Daphne, is impeccably dressed, refined and living in the lap of luxury. Amber nestled herself next to her, under the pretense of friendship, all the while planning to rip the Parrish thrown right out from underneath her.

But beyond the mansions, the cars, the luxurious vacations, Mr. & Mrs. Parrish have secrets of their own and Amber may find out too late that their facade is anything but grand.

There is a major plot twist and a shift of power in this thriller that will make you start reading with a quicker pace because you won't be able to put it down until you figure it all out.

Amber's plan to mimic Daphne and steal her husband may come with a much higher price that she bargained for. Who's the real loser in this game? Lovers of grit lit, you will hate to love this book.

I won a copy of this book from First Reads on Goodreads.

First of all I have to say that it wasn't bad or good...more of an okay read. There was action & drama. There was a whole host of characters, but the downside to that in my opinion is that none of them were all that well developed with the exception of Randy the main character. His girlfriend MP, seemed important at the beginning of the book, but then she pretty much disappeared. I cound Troy & Emma to be the most fascinating characters, but they weren't developed to the extent that they could've been.
The book tells the story of ex-cop Randy Chalmers, who is now a highly in demand home builder & recovering alcoholic. One day his mentor Terry turns up long dead in a hotel room of an apparent heroin overdose in a seedy motel room. The catch is, Terry had been clean upwards of 15 years. So the former detective in Randy takes over when he begins to doubt that a simple O.D. is how he best friend died. In the course of his not so under the radar investigation, he stumbles across something much bigger & finds that his friend is smack in the middle of it.
The story was a promising idea that wasn't brought to it's fullest potential. It was a fast, okay read, but not one that I find myself dying to share with someone.
