Good video adaptation
It's fast-paced, flashy, and fun, but it could have been so much more.
There's nothing particularly surprising or original about the unfolding story in Uncharted. You'll see most of the double-crosses coming, either because they're telegraphed or simply as something you know in your gut because that's how movies like this work. An array of flashy action set pieces mix in with all of that. Even if you know how they're going to go in the end, they still make for a fun watch.
Uncharted is alright. It's far from perfect, but still a good Sunday afternoon movie

I love Rebecca Wells' writing and most of her stories, but this one was definitely not one of my favorites. I felt it was a bit on the goofy dramatic side, and very predictable. I enjoyed the characters, and loved the setting and all the sweet, charming southern people who lived there, but it just didn't lure me in as her other books do.
I could have done without the La Luna / Moon stuff entirely. The writing also seemed very juvenile, even as Calla grew up. It was a cute story, so I wouldn't NOT recommend it - but not that fun to read, and a bit out of Wells' character for writing style.

Going into this film, I thought it was going to be completely horrible and ridiculous. However, I was open to it because it was from GDT. It was goofy, and completely entertaining. I was sucked in by the concept, and it proved that someone should give GDT a Godzilla movie. The acting wasn't the best (Looking at you, Charlie Hunnam), but it completely pulled me in. Ron Pearlman was great for the whole 5-10 minutes he was in the movie. Charlie Day was also great, and one of the only reasons I'm going to see the next film. It made me completely hyped up for some robots to beat up monsters.

Awix (3310 KP) rated Highlander (1986) in Movies

Cult fantasy movie which kind of flopped on its initial release but spawned a franchise which seemed to go on forever (and may not in fact be completely defunct). Scottish highlander (played by a Frenchman) discovers he is immortal; is mentored by ancient Egyptian immortal (played by a Scotsman); must do battle with rival Russian immortal (played by an American) to decide the destiny of the world.
Pretty much as goofy as it sounds, but very likeable - strives for a sort of mythic grandeur, doesn't quite manage it. None of the battles in the story are quite as brutal as the one between Christopher Lambert and the English language, but Sean Connery is having fun; some decent fight choreography too. Benefits immensely from the Queen soundtrack.

Can't get much more 80's than this!
In my experience, few films have had such a different range of reviews by gender than this film. Most women I know utterly hate everything about this goofy 80s campfest starring Kurt Russell at his best while men seem to eat up all the cheesy one liners and mediocre story and visual effects.
I watch this movie a lot when I was a teenager. When revisiting it as an adult, I can see why some people can't get into it as it does look dated now, but it will always be a guilty pleasure for me.
What a perfect blend of comedy, action, romance, sci-fi and fantasy all rolled into one.
