A mix between Village of the Damned and The Brood (0 more)
Damned Brood
The Children- is a excellent film. It reminded me so much of both "Village of the Damned" and "The Brood". Its a mix of those two movies and its excellent.

The plot: Two families gather at an upscale English estate in late December. Elaine (Eva Birthistle) and her sister, Chloe (Rachel Shelley), along with their husbands and children, are set for a weekend of family bonding and winter fun. But when they arrive, one of the children becomes sick, and all of the children exhibit strange behavior. The adults don't realize the disturbing truth until it's too late: The children have contracted a disease that has turned them into brutal, psychotic killers.

Its violent, gory, horrorfying, terrorfying, scay and overall excellent.

Freaky Friday with a killer twist
This nearly went under the radar but once I saw it was from the director of @Happy Death Day (2017) I was keen to check it out. So we have a killer twist on the body swap idea. As a serial killer and a high school girl swap bodies. This leads to a lot of interesting scenarios for both, although amusing they could have done a bit more on the comedy side.
It starts very well and in a very gory fashion with many nods to various slasher films especially Friday the 13th. Definitely a film made for horror fans. Although it slows a little bit before the final act, overall it was a fun film.

My Bloody Valentine 3-D (2009)
My Bloody Valentine 3-D (2009)
2009 | Horror, Mystery
One of the avalanche of classic horror remakes to surface during the 00s, My Bloody Valentine (in "spectacular" 3D of course) isn't the worst of them by a long shot, but it still suffers from the soul-less-ness that the majority of them seem all to keen to pack in.

Its certainly more action packed and gory than it's 80s older sibling. The violence on display packs a punch for sure, some of it looks great, some of its looks terrible. The Harry Warden killer, much like the Michaels and Jasons of this remake era, is more of a machine than before. Relentless, brutal, faster, and pretty intimidating as far as these things go. It also packs in a fair amount of character development, which is a nice touch that gives the whole narrative some much needed gravitas, and the cast all do a good job with the by-the-numbers slasher-remake screenplay, with highlights being Jaime King and the ever reliable Tom Atkins.

You know how these things go though, and the simple fact is that this do over isn't as good as the original. It lacks the realness and charm (there's that word again) that the original had. There's a twist near the end that is designed to pull the rug out from under fans of the original, and it's actually a pretty interesting one, albeit executed poorly, and requires the viewer to really suspend disbelief in order to glaze over some gaping plot holes.

All in all, it's gory and fun enough to easily pass a couple of hours, and manages to feel like a homage to the original, rather than a straight up copy, and that I can respect, but ultimately, it's not a strong argument for the case of remakes.

Practical effects
Before writer/director James Gunn made us familiar with Star Lord and Rocket, he wrote and directed this fantastic creepy gory thriller starring Nathan Fillion, Elizabeth Banks and Michael Rooker.

The film starts out with a similar first act to The Blob, then quickly goes its own way. Slowly, little, juicy caterpillar creatures make their way through the small town and infect the inhabitants while the main creature infects another group of townspeople.

You have to like B movie quality cheese and gore to enjoy this movie, but I thought it was a lot of fun. The actors definitely do not take it too seriously, but you find yourself squirming in your seat once all hell has broken loose.

I return to the film often when I need to lighten my mood.

Hostel Part II (2007)
Hostel Part II (2007)
2007 | Horror
There are a lot of mixed reviews for this. Some saying it is better than the first, a slight majority disagreeing. It is still very bloody, gory and has a bit of torture in it but to a lesser extent of the first. In that respect it is similar to the first but this time with three girls. I'm glad this does follow on from the first and is the same Hostel. At first I thought this might be set in a totally different place to the first. The only real problem is after the first it's all a bit predictable, especially who will be killed etc. It doesn't quite have that raw edge of the first that made it a bit more believable. Overall if you liked the first this pretty much more of the same if not as gritty.

Nice supernatural horror

I watched this after seeing it on Netflix and i am glad i did. It is a good supernatural horror about a man who is wheelchair bound (eckhart) after a confrontation with a demon left his wife and son dead. He now specialises in enter possessed peoples minds in order to find the demon, expel it and free the possessed person. He has a hidden agenda as he wants to confront the demon that took his wife and child from him and left him disabled. Its got just the right amount of creepy moments and the demonic possession is done really well. It could have been made more gory and horrific but i think that the way its done makes it stand out more. All in all well worth a watch :)

Zack Snyder’s Return to Zombie, Flesh-Eating Form
Army of the Dead injects some much needed vitality into both zombie films as a whole and Zack Snyder’s career as a filmmaker. Dave Bautista is also the best he’s ever been as far as his acting ability goes. Gory as hell and entertaining through and through, Army of the Dead is a must-watch for action and horror film fans alike. We really needed more scenes with Vanderohe (Omari Hardwick) using that giant circular saw to tear through zombie flesh though.

Tammy and the T-Rex is easily one of the most entertaining trash movies I've ever watched.
It genuinely made me laugh, has some truly inspired gory moments, has a cast who are either hamming it up to the max, or playing things completely straight, either way, all of it is absolutely over the top and just sort of works.
Some of the special effects are sooooo awful, but that honestly just adds to the experience. The animatronic prop T-Rex is pretty great. The T-Rex uses a pay phone at one point. The plot is so absurd to the point that I wasn't even questioning any of it. Isaac from Children of the Corn has his head bitten off before his headless body runs away into a stack of boxes.

Will definitely be one of my comfort movies from now on.

Lacks Sid Haig's Presence
Contains spoilers, click to show
So 14 years after the devil's rejects the firefly family return.A brief recap of the ending of the devils rejects starts the movie and its aftermath. Then once the principal characters finally escape jail they go on another killing spree which eventually leads to a shootout in a little mexican town against a gangster with a grudge against one of the clan

This film is easily the weakest in the series. It lacks the cutting presence of sid haig as captain spaulding (only appears in the opening 10 minutes of the movie) as he was sadly ill during the making of the film and has since passed away.

If you have seen the first two films then this is worth checking out but its instantly forgettable.
